Fifth Place Finish in Weekly Late Models Competition at Lebanon I-44 Speedway Provides Valuable Seat Time

Quincy, Illinois (May 16, 2013): Prairie State teenager, Jake Griffin may have a leg up on his competition as he and other freshman make a run at the Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance  starting this Saturday, May 18th at the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval of Lebanon I-44 Speedway, located southwest of St. Louis in Lebanon, Missouri.

After the rain out of the originally scheduled 2013 season opener for JEGS/CRA at Springport Motor Speedway in Springport, Michigan on April 28th, the new door opener for the third year series will now be the Mercy Masters of the Pros 144 Presented by JEGS.com  at the Show-Me State oval. Griffin and crew got some valuable track time in the tracks season opener on May 11th as he finished fifth in the 30-lap weekly Feature for the tracks NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Models.

Lebanon is obviously the biggest race of the year for me, so I’m excited to get to compete with some of the best late model drivers in the country.” the 14-year-old stated. “It’s going to be a challenge just to make the show, but with all the testing we have done there, plus racing there last weekend, I think we are prepared.” He added.

Griffin, will head to Lebanon as part of the potent Scott Neal Racing Team and will be armed with two teammates as well in Landon Cling, who takes over the driver’s seat of 2012 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion, Daniel Hemric and also Hemric himself, who is also entered for the race.

“Daniel obviously has a lot of experience with these cars so I think it could help me learn some things just by listening and watching him.” The Quincy, Illinois teenager continued. “If I could win this race it would put me right on the map. Everybody should always go into races expecting to win, that’s just how a drivers mindset should be. But at the end of day all drivers know only one is going to get the trophy. With all of the experienced drivers that are going to be there, it’s definitely going to be a challenge, but hey, Matthew 19:26 says ‘with God all things are possible'” He ended.

For the 2013 racing season, Griffin’s fleet of machines, whether it’s the JEGS/CRA car or the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS entry and even the UMP DIRTcar Modified will carry the #08 and sponsorship decals from Central Metals Recycling, as well as McPikes Pawn Shop, McGunegill Engine Performance, Powdercoat Plus, Green Smart Builders, Microtel Inns and Suites, Big Muddy Towing and Recovery and M.P.H.
