34 Raceway Has Planned Another Exciting Year of Racing

West Burlington, IA (Sunday, February 5, 2017) – Every year the race fans in the Southeast Iowa area look forward to the release of the new racing schedule for 34 Raceway, which is located 5 miles west of West Burlington, Iowa, to see what new events or series’ will be brought to the premier facility. And once again the fans won’t be disappointed, as one new 410 Sprint Car series’ will make it’s first ever visit to 34 Raceway, while another returns after a seven year absence. Plus an IMCA Late Model series will make a return in 2017, after a four year hiatus.

 

Jeff and Amy Laue, Scott and Lorrie Parish and Tom and Sue Bowling are entering their eleventh year as owner’s of 34 Raceway. Despite the track still being up for sale, the owner’s are committed to bringing racing to the track until that such day a new owner is found.

 

To get the community, fans, and racers rev’ed up about the approaching racing season, a car show will be held at Heartland Harley Davidson in Burlington on Saturday, March 18th from 11 AM until 1 PM. Then that evening a kick-off party will be held at Roederers Pit Stop, also located in Burlington, from 6 PM until close. The following Saturday, March 25th, the track will host a test-n-tune from 1 PM until 4 PM. This event will allow any and all racers to bring their cars out to get some practice time in before the on track action begins.

 

The first racing event for 2017 at 34 Raceway is set for Saturday, April 1st, no this is no April fools joke. In action on the night will be the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models, which is making it’s return to the track since 2013, and the Sprint Invaders. This will be the first time in both series’ history that they will be in action on the same night at the same track. The next Saturday, April 8th, the Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series makes a return stop to the 3/8 mile track in seven years. Joining the 410 Sprint Cars on the night will be the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, and IMCA SportMods, which will begin there chase for the track championship.

 

Saturday, April 15th is the much anticipated “Slocum 50”, featuring the Super Late Model stars of the MARS Dirt Car Series and the Corn Belt Clash Series. 2017 will mark the 9th Annual event, which continues to honor the late Brenton Slocum. Brenton, who raced IMCA Late Models at the time, was killed in a freak accident in the pits at the track back in 2005. A few of his close friends have worked hard to grow this race into the big event it is today. The Super Late Models will have a chance to claim the $10,555 to win check at the end of the night. Also in action will be the 305 Sprints and IMCA Stock Cars, with track points being awards to both classes.

 

After three weekends of special events, the regular weekly racing action begins on Saturday, April 22nd. The five weekly classes of 305 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA SportMods, and 4 Cylinders, will continue to battle for track points. Also racing on this night will be the bi-weekly classes of Mod Lites and IMRA Midgets, who will also being earning valuable track points. Weekly action continues on for April 29th, May 6th, May 13th, and May 20th.

 

A double header weekend is planned for Saturday, May 27th and Sunday, May 28th. Saturday nights action will consist of 305 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA SportMods, 4 Cylinders, and the Lee County Late Models. This will also be the first of three $5 Fan Appreciation Nights planned for 2017 at 34 Raceway, where all race fans will get into the grandstands for just $5. Then on Sunday the Sprint Invaders make there second stop of the season at the track, with the Mod Lites, IMRA Midgets, Vintage Sprints and Vintage Super Modifieds joining the card.

 

One more weekly race night is planned for Saturday, June 3rd, before a scheduled pit stop is taken on June 10th. No racing on June 10th will lead to a first ever stop by the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions 410 Outlaw Sprint Car Series to 34 Raceway on Sunday, June 11th. The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions 410 Outlaw Sprint Car Series is owned by NASCAR star Tony Stewart, who purchased the series from Guy Webb back in January of 2015. Joining the 410 Sprint Cars on the night will be the Mod Lites and IMRA Midgets.

 

Saturday, June 17th will be the second of third $5 Fan Appreciation Nights scheduled for 2017, as well as Mid-Season Championship Night. Once again all fans will be admitted into the grandstands for only $5. The five weekly classes, along with the Mod Lites and IMRA Midgets, will continue to battle for the track championships. Weekly Saturday night racing will continue on June 24th, July 1st, July 8th, July 15th, July 22nd, July 29th, and August 5th. The second scheduled pit stop of the season, with no races being held, will be Saturday, August 12th.

 

Following the weekend off from racing will be the third stop out of four by the Sprint Invaders at 34 Raceway. The IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, and IMCA SportMods, racing for track points, join the 360 Sprint Cars in action on the night. One more weekly night of racing will take place on Saturday, August 26th, before Season Championship Night on September 2nd. The 2017 track points season will come to an end, and the track champions will be crowned in all seven classes. Season Championship Night also marks the third and final night of the $5 Fan Appreciation Nights, where all fans will get into the grandstands for just $5.

 

The season finale is set for Saturday, September 23rd and will feature the fourth and final stop by the Sprint Invaders. This night also marks the final event of 2017 for the Sprint Invaders, who will crown their 2017 champion at the end of this night. Joining the 360 Sprint Cars at 34 Raceway during this event will be the IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA SportMods, and the Mod Lite Nationals.

 

Defending track champions at 34 Raceway include Jarrod Schneiderman in the W.T. Gabeline and Sons Trucking 305 Sprints, Jeff Waterman in the Ryner Transportation IMCA Modifieds, John Oliver Jr. in the PEPSI IMCA Stock Cars and Casebine Credit Union IMCA SportMods, Mike Morrill in the Sunoco Fuel Mod Lites, Jeff Mallonee in the IMRA Midgets, and Ron Kibbe in the Sonny’s Market 4 Cylinders.
