2009

October 27, 2009 - (Donnellson, Ia)
A racing season I had hoped would end with a " bang " instead ended with a crash!

October 18, 2009 - (East Moline, Il) Once again, Mother Nature decided to interfere with my racing plans this weekend. A planned trip to the second annual UMP Dirt Car Roundup at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo.

October 3 - (Knoxville, Iowa) This past weekends plans took us to Knoxville, Iowa for the final night of the Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals three day show.

September 28 - (West Liberty, Iowa) The final Saturday night in September, I joined my racing buddies for the trek north to the Muscatine, Iowa fairgrounds speedway for the final night of the 11th edition of the Liberty 100 in West Liberty, Iowa.

September 21 - (West Burlington, Iowa) While the 2009 season has ended at Quincy Raceways, there is still plenty of dirt track racing to be found, and while there were several venues last weekend, I chose a long time favorite, 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa.

September 15 - The Quincy Raceways 2009 season came to an end Sunday night with 75 cars in the pits for the final program.

September 8 - " Postseason" racing started with a big splash Sunday night at Quincy Raceways. Operating under the "something for everyone" formula, promoter Tony Rhinberger packaged IMCA Deery Brothers late models with 410 All Star winged sprints.

September 1 - Yogi Berra should have been in attendance on season championship night at Quincy Raceways.

August 25 - The weatherman gave us a good night for racing on Sunday at Quincy Raceways, and an amazingly large crowd for a school night came out to enjoy five classes of racing.

August 17 - Rain was the big winner on Sunday night at Quincy Raceways. Although there was not a lot of rain during the day on Sunday, rain on Saturday night and the threat of more was enough to make officials pull the plug on the show.

August 11 - The highest paying modified race in Quincy Raceways history did not disappoint on Sunday at the speedway.

August 3 - Last Sunday night was the last night of regular racing this season at Quincy Raceways. But it was far from the final night of racing.

July 7 - Quincy Raceways hosted two nights of racing this past weekend, and both turned out to be real crowd pleasers.

June 30 - Racing at Quincy Raceways for the month of June wrapped up with the first ever Topless late model event at the Broadway Bullring.

June 23 - After a week of - what else - rain, and a week out of town, I returned to QR Sunday night for the weekly showdown at the Bullring.

June 2 - Sunday night was a regular night of racing at Quincy Raceways, but the action was anything but ordinary. A total car count of 71 was led by the UMP Modifieds showing 20 entrants.

May 25 - Quincy Raceways actually managed to avoid the raindrops this past weekend, although they seemed to be in the minority of race tracks doing so.

May 19 - Whoever has been doing the rain dance at Quincy Raceways this season was on hand to tease again this week. Somewhere between a clear Sunday morning and the 20 mile trip to the speedway, "no chance of rain" turned in to a pesky drizzle.

May 13, 2009 - Quincy Raceways owners may wish for more race cars or more fans, but they sure are not wishing for more rain!
