Iron Man race, 34 Raceway bonus added to
Deery Brothers Summer Series plans

West Burlington, Iowa (Feb. 9, 2006) Perfect attendance throughout the Deery Brothers Summer Series will land IMCA Sunoco Late Model drivers in a special race, and more qualifiers at every tour event this season will go home with something extra in their pay envelope.

All drivers who compete at the first 19 series races will be entered in the J&J Steel Ironman Challenge, to be held on opening night of the Pepsi USA Nationals Friday, Sept. 15 at 34 Raceway in West Burlington. The race will pay $750 to win and a minimum of $200 to start.

The starting grid will be determined by draw or by point standings heading into the series finale.

"Last season a bonus was paid to drivers with perfect attendance who qualified for the Pepsi USA Nationals, but this year we thought it would be great to run a special race," said Kevin Yoder, director of the series for IMCA. "This event will really add to the show the first night at 34 Raceway and is a great way to recognize the hard work that drivers put in to follow the Deery Series."

Darrel DeFrance has perfect attendance through the series' first 19 seasons, competing at 284 consecutive events. Other drivers taking the track at all 20 races in 2005 were champion Terry Neal, Lonnie Bailey, Kevin Blum, Jerry Dedrick, Greg Kastli, Chris Richard, Matt Ryan and Rob Toland.

A new bonus from 34 Raceway will up the minimum paid to qualify for each main event this season to $300. Payments of $650 will be made at each race for tracks to distribute to drivers finishing 10th through 24th.

"Johnny Johnson has really stepped up and ensured starting a Deery event will be well worth the trip," Yoder said. "Johnny and 34 Raceway have always been great supporters of the Deery Series and that support shines through in 2006 in a variety of ways."

J&J Steel manufactures chassis and retails race car parts and accessories. The West Burlington company will also continue awarding $100 Iron Man product certificate awards to the driver advancing the most positions at each Deery feature.

Drivers must display J&J Steel decals to be eligible for any contingency award. Information about products available from J&J Steel is available by calling 319 754-4310.

Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City hosts the series opener on Saturday, April 1.
