QUAD CITY DIRT TRACK AWARDS Set to Go Saturday

Moline, Ill (Jan. 4, 2005) - Honors to local stock car drivers will be presented at the QUAD CITY DIRT TRACK AWARDS Saturday, January 7th, 2006. The event will be held at Fargo Dance and Sports, on 23rd Avenue in Moline.

The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Weedon Award, named for local racing legend Ronnie Weedon, who died last year. The winner of the Weedon Award will receive a racing-styled ring with the winner’s car number.

The top nominees for the 2005 Weedon Award are: Dan Chapman, Bob Dominacki, Andy Eckrich, Chuck Hanna, Brian Harris, Jeff Morris, Terry Neal, Jeff Stevens, Rob Toland, Tony VonDresky, Thad Wilson, Doug Yates, and Mike Zogg

The QUAD CITIES RACING CONNECTION will also hand out the Driver’s Choice Awards and Racing OSCAR’s. Drivers eligible for the Driver‘s Choice Awards by class are:

The racing OSCARs are given for Outstanding Support or Contribution to Auto Racing. Traditionally, the OSCAR’s have gone to race officials, members of the media, sponsors, and others that work behind the scenes and outside the bright lights that illuminate our local dirt tracks.

QUAD CITIES RACING CONNECTION is pleased to announce that the winners of the 2005 OSCARs are: Mr. Bob Kulig (scorer) and Mr. Fred Williams (scorer/official). Their long-standing commitment and service to local racing makes both of these gentlemen more than qualified for this honor.

A new addition to the Quad City Dirt Track Awards is the RCTV Rookie of the Year Award. The award is voted by the crew and announcers of RCTV (Racing Connection Television), which can be seen on Mediacom Channel 19.

The event is open to the public. Doors will open at 6:00pm with the award ceremony starting at 7:30pm. There is no charge for admission, but donations for Speedway Fire Rescue will be accepted at the door.
