Deery Series title to be decided at Quad City

EAST MOLINE, Ill. (Sept. 20) – A pair of $5,000 prizes are on the line when Quad City Speedway hosts the final event of the silver anniversary Deery Brothers Summer Series this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24-25.

Qualifying and a Race of Champions are on the Saturday night card. The $5,000 to win IMCA Late Model main event and the series championship, which also pays $5,000, will be decided on Sunday.
Defending tour champion Ray Guss Jr. leads last season’s rookie of the year Andy Eckrich by six points heading to East Moline.

Guss has used one provisional, Eckrich none so both are guaranteed to start the main event.
Eckrich will hold the advantage should a tiebreaker be needed to determine the championship, going into the weekend with three feature wins this season to two by Guss. One of Guss’ wins came at Quad City’s inaugural Herschel Roberts Memorial in July.

Twenty-one drivers are eligible to take the green flag in Saturday’s $800 to win Race of Champions, among them Deery feature winners Guss, Eckrich, Jeff Aikey, Matt Bailey, Nate Beuseling, Tyler Bruening, Tom Darbyshire, Brian Harris, Mike Murphy Jr., Terry Neal, Matt Ryan and Colby Springsteen.

2011 track champions added to the mix are Todd Cooney, Jon Passick, Justin Reed, Jay Stewart and Denny Woodworth, along with national rookie of the year Travis Denning, top series rookie Eric Sanders and promoter’s provisionals Darrel DeFrance and Gary Webb.

Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 3:30 p.m., with hot laps at 5 p.m. and racing at 5:30 p.m. both days.

Grandstand admission on Saturday is $11 for reserved tickets, $10 for adults and $9 for seniors. On Sunday, reserved tickets are $16, adults $15 and seniors $14. Admission for kids 6-12 is $4 and youngsters five and under get in free both days. Pit passes are $25.
