HAWKEYE DIRT TOUR RELEASES 2011 SCHEDULE, HIGHER PURSE

CEDAR FALLS, IA (January 11, 2011) - The JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour today released their 2011 schedule. This year's campaign once again features "Iowa's All Star Tour" battling at ten events in the Hawkeye state. A few new venues have been added for the 2011 season as well as a slightly large payout.

The second annual series opens May 10 at Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City. All ten races are qualifying events for 2011 or 2012 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballots. At each event, IMCA National, North Central Region, and Iowa State points will be awarded.

The raceday payout has been upped. Each event will pay a minimum of $1,000 to win and now $200 for tenth. All drivers qualifying for the HDT A-Main earn a minimum of $150. The series champion becomes eligible to qualify for the Harris Auto Racing Race of Champions at the 2012 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.

From Webster City, "Iowa's All Star Tour" tour will travel to I-35 Speedway in Mason City on May 30, Cedar County Raceway in Tipton on June 14, Cresco Speedway on June 23, Lee County Speedway in Donnellson on June 30, Algona Raceway on July 4, Hancock County Speedway on July 21, Farley Speedway on Sept. 16-17, and Marshalltown Speedway on Sept. 23-24.

"In addition to Hamilton County, three other tracks will host a Hawkeye Dirt Tour event for the first time this year, Cedar County, Algona and Farley. The Yankee Dirt Track Classic at Farley will also be the first time the HDT and the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series for Late Models have been scheduled at the same track on the same night," noted HDT Race Director Bucky Doren.

"We've made only one change to the tentative schedule posted to our website back in December. There was another special near Tipton on the same date we previously agreed to with Cedar County," he added. "There would be an overlap of fans, so we felt it was in everyone's best interest, especially the fans, to move the date to June 14."

"After a lot of people looked over the tentative schedule we released back in December, they asked, 'Where's Indee?'" HDT Race Director Bucky Doren stated. "They've elected to focus on late model specials in 2011, and the HDT didn't fit into that model. We both have left the door open for a possible HDT return down the road."

Although the tour returns to Hancock County Speedway, it will do so on a different date than the Night of 1,000 Stars special.

"We felt that race was an outstanding event and it will continue to be just that. That being said, we were not comfortable with the Night of 1,000 Stars serving as an HDT point event," Doren commented. "Thirty-six cars took the green for the main. That meant thirteen drivers received the same number of points (seventeen). With only ten races used to determine a champion, we felt that that fact was a bit much to ask of those trying to win the crown."

Cost of HDT memberships and race day entry fees will remain unchanged. HDT will soon open up the 2011 driver membership registration period. More information will be posted on the www.DirtTour.com website.
