Billy Moyer Claims Night One May Daze Classic Victory With 10,000 Victory at Farley
By Larry Bontz

FARLEY, IOWA (April 29, 2011) - Mister smooth Billy Moyer held off hard charging two time Dart Corn Belt Clash Champion Chad Simpson in the end two win night one of the 10,000 May Daze Classic here at the Farley Speedway Friday night before a good crowd and the beginning of the 2011 racing season.

Shannon Babb had followed Moyer throughout the fifty lapper and was actually gaining on the six time world 100 champion but as fate would have had a tire go down on lap thirty seven relinquishing his second place run. Kurt Kile and Chad Simpson who had been battling back and forth in their own right all night long for the respective positions changed those spots once again as Simpson moved to second, Kile to third, setting his sights on Moyer to hound him for the lead. Moyer would have none of it as he wheeled on to victory leading the final ten laps making the ten hour tow from Batesville successful for his eighth win of the 2011 campaign.

Simpson who started sixth finished second, Kurt Kile from fourth finished third, Matt Furman who still keeps his cars in Iowa City but now calls Columbus, Ohio, home finished fourth, with the Wisconsin Wildman Dan Schlieper who started tenth, finished fifth.

Shannon Babb won the dash over Billy Moyer, Matt Furman, Kurt Kile, Dave Eckrich, and Chad Simpson.

Thirty four year racing veteran Ronnie Barker grabbed the lead at the outset, survived several caution flags, and motored on for his first IMCA modified feature victory of the 2011 campaign. Vern Jackson who started sixth ran second, eighth starting J.D.Auringer finished third, Jerry King fourth with Mitch Morris fifth.

Nine year veteran John Flury grabbed the lead on the third lap and won the ten lap Sport Compact feature for his first win of the season. Jordan Torstenson was second, Josh Garnhart third, Mark Scholtes fourth, with Dillon Nigzothaler fifth.
