DRT TRAK Racing announces schedule for 20th season at Davenport Speedway

DAVENPORT, Ia. (March 16, 2018) – When the green flag flies on the 2018 racing season at the Davenport Speedway, it will mark the twentieth season under the direction of Bob Wagener and DRT TRAK Racing Inc. This year’s schedule features twenty nights of stock car racing action on the dirt track located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds.

 

The season will begin with the REBEL 5K held on Friday, April 13th. The event is highlighted by the  IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series late models racing on the quarter-mile track. Also racing at the REBEL 5K will be Modifieds, Street Stocks, and SportMods. A $5,000 prize awaits the winner of the Late Model feature. Matt Ryan of Davenport, is the defending champion of the event.

 

The following Friday, April 20th, the racing action jumps over to the half-mile track on for the first of two appearances by the Lucas Oil MLRA Series. The open late models will be joined on the track by Modifieds, Street Stocks and SportMods.

 

The battle for the 2018 Davenport Speedway track championships will start with the Koehler Electric Season Opener on April 27th, and conclude with Season Championship night on August 24th. Weekly racing classes will be IMCA Late Model, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and IMCA Sport Mods.

 

The Lucas Oil MLRA late models will return to the Davenport Speedway on Friday, May 4th, as the open late models tackle the quarter-mile oval. The Modified, Street Stock, and SportMod classes will be racing for track points.

 

For the eighth straight year, the Davenport Speedway will offer $2,000-to-win specials for each of our weekly support classes. The IMCA Mod Madness will be held on May 18th, with the Sport Mod Challenge on June 8th.  The Street Stock Clash will take place on July 13th.

 

The Night of Destruction returns on Friday, September 7th. The motorized mayhem includes Cheater Races for the stock car classes and the always popular Trailer Race.

 

The Iowa Governor’s Cup, the official stock car championship of the State of Iowa, returns to the Davenport Speedway on Friday, September 21st. The 2018 event is highlighted by the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series late models racing on the historic half-mile track. IMCA Modifieds, SportMods, and Street Stocks will also be in action.

 

 

Fans of classic looking stock cars will get their fill in 2018. The American Iron Racing Series will visit the Davenport three times, May 11th, June 15th, and August 17th. The Midwest Jalopies will appear two times, June 22nd, and July 6th. New this season will be two appearances by the Nostalgic Stock Car Racing Club, on April 20th and June 29th.

 

Racers will get a chance to try out their new rides before the season begins. A test & tune session will be held, on Friday, April 6th. The open practice will be on the quarter-mile track.

 

The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. On weekly points race nights, the pit gates open 4:30pm, with hot laps at 6:15 and racing to follow.
