Entry list tops 100, practice Wednesday kicks off festivities for 14th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (Sept 18, 2012) – Thousands of race fans and more than 100 of the nation’s elite open-wheel dirt modified drivers will make their annual pilgrimage to the Deer Creek Speedway next Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-22, for the 14th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree – the undisputed marquee event for America’s most talented Modified drivers on dirt.

Currently 102 USMTS Modifieds and 41 USRA B-Mods are pre-entered for this week’s blowout.

With nearly $200,000 in posted awards for the annual event, this week’s blockbuster battle will see another stellar payoff for competitors with a whopping $15,000 to win over the course of three nights for the USMTS Modifieds. Fans, on the other hand, will witness a complete show featuring more than 300 laps of action each night.

And while all of the entrants will be focused on garnering their fair share of the prize money, a handful of drivers will also have one eye on the prestigious title of USMTS Casey’s Cup Series champion. For the fifth straight year, the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup powered by Swan Energy will conclude at the Featherlite Fall Jamboree with a $15,000 payday awaiting the 2012 points titlist.

Stormy Scott of Las Cruces, N.M., came into ‘The Hunt’ as the points leader, but faded in the opening round while Ryan Gustin of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas, swapped the top spot in the standings throughout the last 15 contests.

Scott regained the top ranking last Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Granite City Speedway in Sauk Rapids, Minn., where he also clinched this year’s USMTS Rookie of the Year title, and now clings to a slim five-point lead over Gustin while Sanders is just 25 markers out of first place heading into the final three rounds at the Featherlite Fall Jamboree.

2010 USMTS national champion Jason Hughes of Watts, Okla., is fourth and sits 109 points in arrears to Scott, whose younger twin brother, Johnny, rounds out the top 5 with a 150-point deficit. Jeremy Payne of Springfield, Mo.; nine-time USMTS national champion Kelly Shryock of Fertile, Iowa; 2004 USMTS Rookie of the Year Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon, Iowa; Dereck Ramirez of Woodward, Okla.; and Jason Cummins of New Richland, Minn., complete the top 10 in the current standings.

Early bird race fans can get a free preview of the action and drivers will get their chance to make final adjustments to their machines with an open practice from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday for the USMTS Modifieds and USRA B-Mods.

Thursday’s USMTS Modified main event carries a $3,000 top prize and pays a minimum of $450 to each of the 30 starters. USRA B-Mods will battle for $500 to win on the first night. Grandstand gates open at 4 p.m. and the first green flag waves at 6:30 p.m. The night will wind down with a karaoke party in the pits following the races.

On Friday, the USMTS Modifieds will compete in a feature race with $4,000 earmarked for the winner and $550 for each of the 30 starters while USRA B-Mods have a $600 paycheck awaiting the winner. Gates open for the fans at 4 p.m. and the first green flag waves at 6:30 p.m. The day will kick off with the annual golf tournament in the morning. Fans, drivers, crews and families will put a lid on Friday’s festivities with the return of The Dweebs performing live on stage following the races.

Saturday’s explosive finale will feature the hottest dirt Modified pilots in the nation battling for one of 30 spots in the USMTS Modified main event that will take the green flag three lanes wide and ten rows deep. Drivers will battle for a $6,000 top prize and at least $900 just to take the green flag. USRA B-Mods will compete for $750 to win their feature race.

And if that wasn’t enough, drivers failing to make Saturday’s finale will have a chance at one of 30 spots in the annual Non-Qualifiers Race which carries a $2,000 top prize and pays $400 to start … that’s more than most “big” Modified races pay to win their main event!

The annual Bean Bag Tournament begins earlier in the day on Saturday. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, breakfast will be served by the Bear Creek Lutheran Church in the hospitality area from 8-11 a.m.

Fan may purchase tickets online at www.deercreekspeedway.com or by calling toll-free 877-DCS-RACE. For track or campground info, call 507-346-2342 or email info@deercreekspeedway.com.
