Donnellson, IA (Friday, August 28, 2015) – The final points night of the 2015 season at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa was held on Friday, as PEPSI Memphis Bottling Co. presented season championship night. At the end of the nights events five new track champions were crowned.

The first feature to take to the track was the 15 lap Armstrong Tractors IMCA Sport Compacts, with Kenny Smith and Kevin Garrett leading the field to the drop of the green flag. But it was fourth place starter Darin Weisinger Jr. who grabbed the lead on lap 1 over Smith and Mike Reu. While Weisinger Jr. paced the field out front, the battles going on behind him went three and even four wide at times. Brandon Lambert, who started 5th, emerged from the pack to grab second on lap 2 and then went to work on Weisinger Jr. for the top spot. Using the top of the track coming off turn four on lap 3, Lambert would edge Weisinger Jr. at the line by inches to grab the lead away. Lambert then started to pull away from the battle for the runner up spot going on behind him. As Weisinger Jr., Mike Reu, Brandon Reu, who started 8th, Josh Barnes, who started 7th, and Kimberly Abbott, who started 9th, all raced two wide at times for that spot. But Brandon Reu’s run up front came to an end on lap 11 when he pulled off with engine troubles, and then was followed one lap later when Weisinger Jr. pulled off with troubles. This would allow Lambert to pull away in a caution free race to claim his first feature win of the season at the track. Abbott won the battle for 2nd and in the process picked up her first track championship at the track, Barnes was 3rd, Mike Reu was 4th, with Brent Hartley rounding out the top 5.

Up next the was the 20 lap Shottenkirk of Ft. Madison IMCA SportMod feature, with Jeremy Whitlock and Austin Howes making up the front row. Howes would take advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over John Oliver Jr., who started 6th, and Logan Anderson. Howes, who was working the top of the track, then had to work to hold off Anderson, who was working the bottom, over the next 3 laps. But coming off turn four to complete lap 4, Anderson was able to edge out Howes at the line to take over the top spot. Anderson then started to pull away from the battle for second between Howes, Oliver Jr., Brandon Dale, who started 7th, Austen Becerra, who started 5th, and Tony Dunker, who started 9th. The field was brought back to Anderson’s back bumper on lap 10, as the first caution of the race waved. Brandon Ruffcorn would spin in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Anderson moved back out front, with Oliver Jr. in second and Becerra going from 5th to 3rd. Coming off turn four to complete lap 13, Oliver Jr. would look under Anderson for the lead. But Anderson was able to hold him off. That was until Oliver Jr. was able to make the low groove pay off on lap 14, as he slipped under Anderson for the top spot. The side-by-side action for the lead was slowed on lap 16, when Taylor Lear spun in turn 1 to bring out the caution. Oliver Jr. would jump back out front on the restart, with Anderson and Becerra racing side-by-side for second. Another lap scored complete, lap 17, produced the third and final caution of the race, as Colton Bowman spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Anderson went to the bottom of the track to slip past Oliver Jr. coming off turn 2 to grab the lead away. Anderson then held on over the final 2 laps to pick up his second win of the season at the track, and third in a row over the past week at three different tracks. Becerra would come home in 2nd, Dale was 3rd, Howes was 4th, with Dunker finishing in 5th. Joey Gower, who started 10th and finished 6th, claimed his first track championship at the track.

Brandon Symmonds and Dustin Griffiths made up the front row for the 14 lap Coors Light IMCA Hobby Stock feature, with Griffiths grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Mike Kincaid and Garrett Eilander. While Griffiths paced the field out front, Eilander, Dane Blozovich, who started 7th, and Kincaid raced side-by-side at times for the runner up spot. But Kincaid’s run up front came to an end on lap 10, when he spun in turn 2 to bring out the only caution of the race. On the restart Griffiths jumped back out front, while Blozovich and Eilander raced side-by-side for second. Contact between the two down the front stretch would result in Blozovich pulling in with a flat tire. Over the next three laps Eilander would look under Griffiths for the lead, with Griffiths able to hold him off each time at the line. Going into turn three on the final lap Eilander was able to get under Griffiths, but Griffiths would use the momentum off the top of turn four to edge out Eilander at the line for his sixth win of the season at the track. Eilander settled for 2nd, Symmonds was 3rd, Brandon Potts started 6th and finished 4th, with Rob Wilsey coming home in 5th. Kevin Koontz would finish 7th, which was good enough to secure his first track championship at the track.

Up next was the 20 lap Donnellson Tire and Service IMCA Stock Car feature, with Jim Redmann and Andrew Hustead leading the field to the green flag. Redmann would use his front row starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Hustead and Corey Strothman. Hustead, who was using the top of the track, used the momentum off turn four to take over the top spot from Redmann on lap 4. While the two battled out front for the lead, Jeff Mueller, who started 8th, Damon Murty, who started 10th, and Strothman raced three wide for the second spot on laps 6 and 7. The action up front was slowed for the first time on lap 8, as Jake Wenig spun in turn two to bring out the yellow. On the restart Murty went to the bottom of the track in turn two to grab the lead, with Mueller following him into second. Murty, who worked the top of the track, and Mueller, who worked the bottom, raced side-by-side for the top spot over the next six laps. But when Murty got into the guardrail in turn 3 on lap 15, this allowed Mueller to slip under him for the lead. One lap later, lap 16, Hustead got into Abe Huls and got him sideways in turn 4, which caused Jason Cook and Jeremy Pundt to collide to bring out the caution. On the restart Mueller moved back out front, with Murty and Redmann racing side-by-side for second. Mueller was able to hold off Murty over the final four laps to claim his second win in a row at the track. Murty settled for 2nd, Strothman was 3rd, Redmann was 4th, with John Oliver Jr. coming home 5th to secure his first track championship at the track.

The final feature to take to the track was the 20 lap Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, with Blake Woodruff and Dean McGee making up the front row. McGee would use his front row starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Bill Roberts Jr. and Woodruff. The action up front was slowed for the first and only time on lap 6, as Eric Glass spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Roberts Jr. would use the bottom of the track to slip under McGee to grab the top spot. Going into turn 3 to complete lap 12, Scott Hogan, who started 7th, Roberts Jr. and Jeff Waterman, who started 5th, raced three wide for the lead. Waterman would use the momentum off the top of turn 4 to lead lap 12. Hogan, who was working the bottom of the track, tried to slip under Waterman over the next 2 laps, But Waterman was able to hold him off each lap. That was until lap 15, when Hogan was able to clear Waterman for the lead. Hogan then went on to lead the final 5 laps to pick up his first win of the season at the track, which also helped him to secure his first track championship at the track. Waterman was 2nd, Darin Duffy started 10th and finished 3rd, Roberts Jr. was 4th, with Carter VanDenBerg coming home in 5th.
