Huge Weekend at Jacksonville/West Burlington for MOWA!

(Bill W) September 18, 2012 – A big doubleheader weekend is in store for the Midwest Open Wheel Association as they hit a pair of venues they are familiar with for some big cash!  On Friday night, September 21, they will compete at the “Shaheen’s Blast from the Past” presented by Moughan Builders, aiming for the top prize of $4,000 in Jacksonville, Illinois.  On Saturday night, the show moves across the Mississippi River to the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa.

Plenty of competition is expected to challenge the MOWA regulars.  Recently crowned Knoxville Raceway and Huset’s Speedway champion, Terry McCarl is expected to compete, as well as Danny Smith, who has already picked up a pair of MOWA wins this year.  In addition, Owasso, Oklahoma’s Tony Bruce Jr. has expressed his intentions on taking aim for the big prize.

Last weekend, Jerrod Hull made history by winning his second Tom Knowles Memorial in a row.  The Sikeston, Missouri native enters the weekend as the point leader.  AJ Bruns, who picked up a win at Jacksonville earlier this season is second in points, ahead of Korey Weyant.  Ben Wagoner and Jim Moughan Jr. round out the top five.

Plenty of fun is in store this weekend.  At Jacksonville Speedway on Friday night, there will be an autograph session at 5:30 p.m.  Also, join your favorite drivers for free food and drinks, as they will be under the grandstand for the “MOWA-Palooza Shaheen Fan Appreciation Party” following the races!  On Saturday in West Burlington, there will be a special autograph session during intermission!  Don’t miss it!

Hurley is the only repeat winner in the seven-event MOWA history at Jacksonville’s bullring.  He has picked up a win in 2011 and followed it with one last August 24.  Other winners at Jacksonville include McCarl, Hull, Smith, Bruns and Brian Brown.

Danny Lasoski has two wins with the MOWA in West Burlington, with McCarl picking up the third one.  A handful of Knoxville regulars are expected to challenge the MOWA regulars at the 3/8-mile oval Saturday!
