I-35 Speedway Winston, MO Prepares for 2016 Racing Season!

WINSTON, MO (Jan. 1, 2016) – With racing season just around the corner I-35 Speedway makes plans for the 2016 racing season. Mike and Kyle Johnson are working hard on improvements around the Track, Trackside Bar and Grill, Concession Stand, and many other areas. Big announcements are coming up as many touring series will be visiting the fast 3/8ths mile track. Casey Shuman, new owner of War Non Wing Sprint Car Series has worked with Mike Johnson and will call I-35 Speedway their home track when not on tour. USMTS Modifieds, Iron Man B-Modifieds and Stock Cars will make an appearance kicking of the season of great racing. Weekly racing will feature USRA Modifieds, USRA B-Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars, E-Modifieds, Pure Stock, and Chargers. Mod Lites, Show-Me Vintage Racers, Midwest Lightning Sprints, and ULMA Late Models will also race at I-35 Speedway this season many times for your entertainment. More details coming soon! Remember our Drivers Meeting 1/16/2016 at Cameron Community Building in Cameron, MO at 10:00 am. Race Director Carl Flower and Track Owner Mike Johnson will be in attendance to answer your questions and concerns. Copies of 2016 rules will be available, pit stalls can be purchased, schedules will be available, registration forms available, and profile forms.

We are proud to announce one of our newest classes at I-35 Speedway which will compete six (6) times this season during Intermission. Heartland Missions and Motorsports Kids Power Wheels Series will roar into 2016 battling for the point Championship. To give everyone a jump start on the season, rules are posted below:

Rules for Heartland Missions and Motorsports Kids Power Wheels Series I-35 Speedway 2016

Section 1: Sportsmanship

A. Any competitor’s parents that are found to be detrimental to the racers or sport will be excluded from competition. Said child will be allowed to compete but without a parent on track at the time of race.

B. All kids are to conduct themselves in a somewhat orderly manner and listen to track officials. (These are kids and we want them to have fun)

C. Absolutely no arguing with the track officials anytime during the event.

Section 2: General Rules

  1. A.    All drivers (Parents) must sign up prior to the first race with either Rick Staley or Carley Bowling. A release form will have to be signed by said parent or guardian to allow drivers to compete.
  2. B.    Drivers (Parents) are to furnish their own cars. (If they don’t have one just ask their Grandparents, that always works)
  3. C.    Ages of competitors are from 3 years of age up to but not exceeding 8 years of age. (If an 8 year old starts the season and turns 9 during the series this is acceptable and they will be allowed to finish the season).
  4. D.   We will run a total of six (6) races in the Power Wheels Series
  5. E.     All cars must have a readable number no smaller than six inches tall displayed on the passenger side of the car.
  6. F.     No battery modifications of any kind will be allowed and no batteries larger than 12 volt rechargeable. (No car batteries allowed)
  7. G.   Tires must be plastic (slight sanding allowed) no grooving. (We will refer to the owner’s manual of car in question to determine legality)
  8. H.   All cars must have a copy of their owner’s manual available if there is a question. (No hand written owner’s manuals will be accepted)
  9. I.      Points will be scored by finishing order with 5 pts for the winner, 4 pts for second, 3 pts for third, 2 pts for fourth and 1 pt for fifth on back.
  10. J.      Any first time drivers to the track after the first point’s race will start in the rear. (Important to make all six races)
  11. K.    All cars are subject to pre and post-race tech, no exceptions.
  12. L.     Track Series Point Champion will be honored at the 2016 I-35 Speedway Awards Banquet.

Section 3: Racing line ups and rules

  1. A.    First race line up according to draw, all races thereafter inverted according to points. (first in points starts last, last in points starts first)
  2. B.    All cars will line up double file for an initial start and single file after that if needed
  3. C.    All cars will start from a standstill by a green flag wave.
  4. D.   We will only run a 10 lap feature per series event
  5. E.     Trophies will be awarded to the top four positions
  6. F.     Parents are to stay on the infield side of the track and not interfere with the competitors. (This allows all fans to see the racing action clearly)
  7. G.   Cautions will only be displayed during the event for safety.
  8. H.   Top four will stay on track for interview and pictures.

Track ownership and officials reserve the right to cancel, change dates, or modify events and rules as needed throughout the year.

3/26/2016, 5/21/2016, 7/2/2016, 8/13/2016, 10/1/2016, and 10/22/2016
