IMCA Modifieds headline Iowa Governor’s Cup

DAVENPORT, Ia. (September 18, 2017) – The Davenport Speedway will host the Iowa Governor’s Cup, on Friday, September 22nd. This year’s event marks the 25th running of the official stock car championship of the State of Iowa.

IMCA Modifieds will be the premiere class at the 2017 Iowa Governor’s Cup.  This will mark the first time modifieds have been the headline class since 2005. $5,000 will go to the winner of the modified feature. This will be the largest modified purse in the history of the Davenport Speedway.

IMCA SportMods will run for a $2,000 top prize and Street Stocks will compete for $1,000-to-win. Also racing will be the classic looking stock cars of the American Iron Racing Series.

All the racing will take place on the action-packed quarter-mile oval. There is no entry fee for any classes.

Provisionals for the Iowa Governor’s Cup are available to each of Davenport Speedway track champions (modified-Bryce Garnhart, street stock-Jeff Struck Jr., sportmod-Tony Olson) along with the winners of each of the track’s $2,000-to-win specials. Those included from the specials are Darin Duffy (IMCA Mod Madness 50), Luke Lamberries (SportMod Challenge), and Brandon Setser (Street Stock Clash).
