Jake Griffin Races to Another Top Ten in JEGS/CRA Competition

| July 25, 2013

Quincy, Illinois (July 24, 2013) –  In what has become the norm for Jake Griffin Racing it was another busy weekend of dirt and pavement action for the 14-year-old driver.

On Friday the team traveled to Anderson Speedway (Anderson, Indiana) with the JEGS/CRA All Star Tour as a teammate to Snowball Derby winner, Erik Jones.  Via qualifications he locked into the 14th starting spot for the 100 lap feature on the 1/4 mile, bullring.  Jake raced in the top ten throughout the event before crossing the finish line in the 9th position.  The finish marked his third straight top ten finish with the series. Jake is seventh in the latest series’ standings.  Full results from the program as well as the latest series’ points are available at www.CRA-Racing.com.

On Saturday evening it was back to the dirt oval as Jake entered an UMP Open Wheel Modified Weekly Racing Series Event at Federated Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Missouri). A strong field of 31 entries took part in the program, and while heat race action left him just short of locking into the feature a 3rd place finish in the b-main transferred Jake to the 21st starting spot for the main event.  He would go on to advance to a 16th place finish.  Full results from the event are available at www.I55Raceway.com.

The weekend concluded on Sunday evening at Quincy Raceway (Quincy, Illinois) with another UMP Open Wheel Modified Weekly Racing Series Event.  Preliminary action positioned Jake starting 7th on the grid for the main event, and he went on to advance three spots to finish 4th behind race winner, Steven Delonjay, Robbie Reed, and David Wietholder. Jake is now in the top 25 in the UMP National Modified standings.  Full results from the event are available at www.QuincyRaceways.com.

Jake Griffin Racing now looks ahead to another full weekend of action, which opens on Friday, July 26th at Lucas Oil Raceway (Clermont, Indiana) with the JEGS/CRA All Star Tour, where veteran racer, Kenny Wallace will be his teammate.  The team is currently unsure if they will race anywhere on Saturday, but plan to compete at Quincy Raceway (Quincy, Illinois) on Sunday evening in another UMP Open Wheel Modified event.  For more information on the weekend’s events please visit www.CRA-Racing.com and www.QuincyRaceways.com .
