Kay captures Davenport Deery feature

DAVENPORT, Ia. (September 20, 2014) – Justin Kay was the big winner at the All-Star Classic held Saturday, at the Davenport Speedway. Kay captured the win in the 35-lap, Deery Brothers Summer Series feature.

The late model main started with pole sitter Andy Eckrich taking the early lead. Andy would lead through lap twenty-six. Kay started tenth and pulled alongside Eckrich on several occasions, but would not make the pass for the lead until lap twenty-eight.

Once in front, Kay cruised to the win. Eckrich held on for second. Brian Harris, who started 19th, finished third. Brunson Behning was fourth, with Denny Eckrich fifth.

The victory was Kay’s fifth Deery win of the year and second at Davenport. Thirty-seven cars were on hand for the event.

Justin Kay, Jason Rauen, Andy Eckrich, and Jonathon Brauns won the late model heats. Jeff Aikey and Travis Denning won the B-Mains.

 

Bob Dominacki made it two-for-two in Davenport post-season starts. Dominacki led flag-to-flag in the 15-lap Modified main. Jason Schueller gave chase to the leader the entire race, but would settle for second. Brandon Durbin finished third, ahead of Derek Walker and Steve Johnson.

 

In Street Stock action, Perry Gellerstedt passed Jeremy Gustaf for the lead on lap six and held on for the victory. Keith Blum would also get by Gustaf for second. Jeremy finished third, while Cary Brown and Dan Anderson completed the top five.

 

Tony Olson dominated the field in the SportMod feature. Once in front, Olson would not be touched. Bryce Garnhart finished a distant second. Jarrett Franzen, Jake Montoya, and Danny Brau rounded out the first five.

 

Joe Zrostlik held off Gage Neal to take the win in the 4-Stock feature. Aaron Hitt followed the lead duo to the checkers in third. Brandon Setser finished fourth and Jordan Walker fifth.

 

The All-Star Classic was the final event of 2014 at the Davenport Speedway. DRT TRAK Racing Inc. would like to thank all the drivers, crew, and fans that supported the Davenport Speedway in 2014.
