Wheatland, Missouri (May 27, 2016) – Jared Landers turned disappointment to elation in the span of 24 hours.

The Batesville, Arkansas-driver captured the Tribute to Don and Billie Gibson on Friday night at Lucas Oil Speedway on Night Two of the Show-Me 100 Presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com.

Landers, felled by a spin and mechanical issues on opening night of the three-race weekend leading into Saturday’s Show-Me 100, earned $6,000 for his fifth career Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series victory.

Teammate Scott Bloomquist finished second and Tim McCreadie came home third.

Now the stage is set for the main event, Saturday’s $30,000-to-win Show-Me 100.

Based on feature results the first two nights, with drivers accumulating points for the finishes, three-time Show-Me 100 winners Jimmie Owens and reigning race champ Jonathan Davenport will make up the front row.

Action begins at 7 p.m. with hot laps, followed by B-Mains at 7:30 along with the Midwest Sheet Metal Challenge for the top 24 remaining non-qualifiers. That winner receives $2,500 – or the option to start at the tail of the feature.

Landers said he first thought about calling it a weekend after his motor broke early in Thursday’s Cowboy Classic.

“We needed this win,” Landers said in a victory lane interview. “I’m glad the crew is behind us. They needed it more than anybody. We weren’t going to race today but … I’m glad we did.”

Landers and McCreadie traded the lead three times in the first 10 laps, with Landers moving out to a straightway-margin advantage after going in front on lap 10.

But as the cars weaved into lapped traffic, McCreadie and Bloomquist began to close in. The trio had to take evasive measures when Brantlee Gotschall’s car suddenly slowed in front of them on lap 22, bringing out a caution.

Landers roared away on the restart and opened up a cushion over Bloomquist, but the pair caught lapped cars again with five laps to go. Landers weaved his way through traffic to hang on for the victory in a race named in honor of the Gibsons, former owners of West Plains Motor Speedway where the Show-Me originated.

“It’s nice to see Jared win,” Bloomquist said. They  both drive Bloomquist Race Cars and the 52-year-old veteran is considered a mentor to the 24-year-old Landers.

“The whole family and crew, they all work hard,” the Mooresburg, Tennessee-driver added of Landers. “They had some problems last night just like we did and we both rebounded. Hopefully this sets the stage for tomorrow. I’ll be glad to race him for it tomorrow.”

McCreadie finished third, Owens was fourth, Steve Francis came from 16th to finish fifth and Dennis Erb Jr., was sixth.

Davenport faded over the final 15 laps and finished 10th. He had won his previous four features at Lucas Oil Speedway, including Thursday’s Cowboy Classic.

Will Vaught of Crane, who wrecked in time trials on Thursday and did not race the rest of the night, made it into Thursday’s feature by winning a B-main. He started finished seventh after starting 20th, the highest of the Missouri qualifiers. Springfield’s Terry Phillips was 14th, Lebanon’s Tony Jackson Jr. 15th and Billings’ Jesse Stovall was 16th.

McCreadie posted fast qualifying time with a lap of 14.927 seconds, then won his heat race to nail down the pole position for the feature.

Other heat race winners were Landers, Billy Moyer, Darrell Lanigan, Davenport and Bloomquist with Lanigan joining McCreadie on the front row for the feature.
