WINSTON, MO (August 12, 2017) – Great BBQ was prepared by 25 different teams at the 2nd Annual Smokin’ Trackside BBQ Bash at I-35 Speedway with Dirt Road BBQ winning the Grand Champion Trophy!!! We will have a press release later in the week with the complete results from this great event!!!

E-Modified would get the racing action started with heat winner and current point leader Randy Smith Jr #75X taking the early lead on the fast 3/8th mile track. Smith would continue to lead until Derek Carney #05 would charge through the field and challenge for the lead. Contact with another car would send him to the hot lane with a flat tire and to the back of the pack. Other heat winner J J Baumli #46 would then take the lead from Smith, who would place second, and claim his second win in a row at I-35 Speedway. Manlee Lamar #4M would race his way to third with the always fast Jason Nelson #12GA fourth. Derek Carney would come from the back to the front placing fifth making a nice recovery after the flat tire.

#46 J J Baumli, E-Modified Feature Winner!

Midwest Outlaw Vintage Racers would see a great battle as heat winner Chris Heitman #39 would take the early lead and never relinquish on his way to McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle. Heitman would first be challenged by Andy Wiles #53 until problems in turn number one would fade him to settle for fourth place on the night, Next to challenge would be the #J2 of Jack Simmons but to no avail as he would end the night second to Heitman. Andrew Buffington would get a podium finish as he would notch third in his #3 machine with Steve Tanner #XX rounding out the top five.

#39 Chris Heitman, Midwest Outlaw Vintage Racer feature Winner!

Grand National would see a third time winner as Chad Fuller #0R would take the front and cruise to victory lane. Fuller would hold off a hard charging second place finisher Bill Hoover #97 and current point leader and heat winner Donnie Brown #26 who would place third. With us for the first time in 2017 at I-35 Speedway, Jay Lamons would race his station wagon #0 to fourth with John Hanson #54 ending the feature fifth.

#0R Chad Fuller, Grand National Feature Winner!

Pure Stock would see a new winner in McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle as Ethan Lamons #20A would win both his heat race and the feature on this night of competition. Lamons would be challenged by current point leader Cletus Murray who would have to settle for second place and third place finisher C J Turner #91. Lamons would never fade or falter and take the top spot se the checkers first. Fourth would see #99A of Kerry Ayers with Beau Well #555 a very close fifth place showing. Other heat race winner was Ron Hill #72 who would develop issues taking him from win contention

 

#20A Ethan Lamons, Pure Stock Feature Winner!

Sport Compact would be low in number but high in quality as Austin King #53 would win both heat and feature on this night, King would not be challenged as he checked out on the field and cruised to victory lane. Second would belong to Allen Anders #15A sporting a different car this week at the track with Cameron Moser #39C, proving ladies can race too, placing third. Jack Burk #65 would drive a solid feature race ending the night fourth place in the field of cars. This would be Austin Kings first feature win at I-35 Speedway in 2017.

 

 

 

 

#53 Austin King, Sport Compact Feature Winner!

USRA B-Modified had side by side high flying action from start to finish as heat winners Randy Ainsworth and Daniel Harris would square off in the front of the field. Ainsworth #57 would take the top spot and set sail with Harris #07 in tow until the always present Doug Keller #7 would work the inside line to perfection moving by Harris to challenge for the front. Ainsworth would race the high side with Keller low as the race continued. Ainsworth would lead every lap except the one that counted as Keller would make the pass coming to the checkers an pick up the feature win. As Keller would celebrate in victory lane, Ainsworth would place second with Harris third. Fourth would see a very fast Blake Pierce #16 with Bud Wilson #22W a solid fifth place run.

 

 

#7 Doug Keller, USRA B-Modified Feature Winner!

USRA Stock Cars would not disappoint as the very best in the racing division prepared to do battle. Brett Heeter #05 would take the front away from heat winner Aaron Sauter #83A on the start and use the high line to pull ahead until a caution would bunch the field. On the ensuing restart Dean Wray #77 would work the inside proving the multiple lanes on the excellent track and move side by side with Heeter. Heeter would change his line giving Wray the top and he would take advantage pulling ahead and on to McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle. In victory lane Wray would give lots of credit to Heeter saying he is one tough customer on the track. Heeter would end the night second with an impressive run by Gary Donaldson #28D finishing third. Matthew Lance #12X was your fourth place driver with Keith Simmons #5K a close and solid fifth on the night. Other heat winner was Anthony Whitham #26L.

 

#77 Dean Wray, USRA Stock Car Feature Winner!

High Flying, Fire Breathing, Alcohol Drinking USRA Modifieds would charge to the track wrapping up our night of great racing action. Dennis Elliott would win both his heat and the feature leading every lap and parking in McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle. Derrick Hicks #78 would search high and low on the racing surface but have to settle for a second place finish on the night. Jared Stiens #59 continues to impress as he would win heat race and place a solid third in the feature holding off the hard charge of fourth place finisher Chad Clancy #21C. Fifth place would see Billie Hoover #99 again notch a top five finish.

 

 

#29 Dennis Elliott, USRA Modified Feature Winner!

Intermission would see the kid’s race as the Heartland Missions & Motorsports Power Wheels would be in action. 6 Volt would be up first and see a new winner in the top spot as Hayden Romesburg would wheel his three wheel motorcycle to the his first ever feature win. Second would go to Frankie Baker with a newcomer Zoie a close third and Weston LeRoy Romesburg fourth.

12 Volt would see a great field of cars and a second time winner in victory lane as Jayson Kidd would race his Corvette past all others and win the race. Second would go to Creed Wilson with Arieonna Rainey a very close third. Brodie Wells would race his big blue truck to fourth with Bentley Hicks a close and consistent fifth on the night.
