McCarthy Auto Group Kids Night at I-35 Speedway!!

WINSTON, MO (August 06, 2016) – Opening ceremonies would start the night off right with Amy Dixon honored as I-35 Speedway Teacher of the Year. Amy is a teacher at Brookfield and very deserving of this award. Jamie King would sing our National Anthem with Motor Racing Outreach Chaplain Robbie Skipper saying our invocation. All Kids entering pits or grandstands would receive school supplies and many backpacks would be distributed.

Show Me Vintage Racers would be in attendance on this night of competition with heat race winner Damon Clevenger #6 jumping to the early lead for the first half of the feature. As the race progressed other heat race winner John Steenstry #22 would chase down Clevenger and win his third feature of the 2016 racing season at I-35 Speedway. Damon Clevenger would place a close second with Lonnie Farley #44 recovering from an early race mishap to finish third on the night. Mickey Fleethart #1 would finish fourth with Jim Clevenger #76 rounding out the nights top five.

#22 John Steenstry, Show Me Vintage Racers Feature Winner

E-Modified would not disappoint with great racing throughout the pack from green to checkers. Heat race winner Matt Dorssom #3D would again roar to the front and pick up win #12 on this 2016 racing season at I-35 Speedway. Dorssom would be challenged by Matthew Lance #12X who would slip in turn four moving him to fourth at the finish. Billy Spilman #63 would hound Dorssom to the checkers placing a very close second with “Magic Man” Josh Munsen #19X third. Randy Smith Jr #20X, who might be the unluckiest guy on the redraw for the feature would charge through the pack ending the night with a solid fifth place showing. Other heat race winners were Corey Myers #15 and Brandon Beam #83. Hard Charger of the race picking up the $80 bonus on the night was Derek Carney #05. I-35 Speedway would like to thank Josh Munsen, Jon Boller Jr, Randy Smith Jr and Jim Masoner for adding the Hard Charger bonus money.

#3D “MadDog” Matt Dorssom, E-Modified Feature Winner

Pure Stock would see Jay Barnes take control and win both his heat race and the feature on this night of racing action. Barnes would put his #99J out front and hold of the late race challenge of current point leader Carson Masoner #20X at the checkers. Carson Masoner would place second with older brother and other heat race winner Conner Masoner #47X ending the feature third. Tobin Bartlett #28 would again notch a solid race finishing fourth with Anthony Persell #87 rounding out the features top five.

 

 

#99J “J Bird” Jay Barnes, Pure Stock Feature Winner

Midwest Lightning Sprints were low in number but high in quality as the #2 of Jason Billups would take the early lead and never relinquish on his way to win number two this season at I-35 Speedway. Billups would stretch out a big lead as the race would go caution free not allowing second place finisher Mark Billings #51 to mount a charge. Third place would belong to heat race winner Ken Billings #85with Ryan Secrist #49 fourth and Tom Brown #B20 finishing fifth.

 

 

 

 

 

 

#2 Jason Billups, Midwest Lightning Sprint Feature Winner

Chargers would again see Houston Johnson #97 standing tall in McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle as he captured win number eight taking over the point lead as well. Heat race winner Buz Kaster #54 would take the early lead until mechanical issues would force him from contention placing him fourth on the night. Mich Ross #98M would challenge Johnson to the checkers slipping on the white flag lap moving him to finish second with John Hanson #154 third.

 

 

 

 

 

 

#97 “Moose” Houston Johnson, Charger Feature Winner

USRA B-Modifieds would again put on a show of epic proportions as the two heat race winners Steve Starmer #11S and Zach Sanders #77X would battle it out for the top spot. Steve Starmer would use the extreme high line off turn number two taking the lead and charging on to his fourth win on the 2016 season at I-35 Speedway. Sanders would place second with Doug Keller #7 moving through the pack to place third. Shadren Turner #17T would hold off a charging Bud Wilson #20X to place fourth moving Wilson to fifth.

 

 

 

 

 

#11S “Storming” Steve Starmer, USRA B-Modified Feature Winner

Like the B-Modifieds, USRA Stock Car would see the battle of heat race winners as well with Dean Wray #77 and Jason Estes #997 battling for the top spot. Wray would work his car to the front and hold off all challengers winning the feature holding Estes to place second. Third place would belong to Jeff Dixon #88 with Mich Ross #34 placing a very close fourth. Alvie Christofferson would recover from an early race mishap putting his #22X in the fifth finishing position.

 

 

 

 

 

 

#77 “Hollywood” Dean Wray, USRA Stock Car Feature Winner

USRA Modifieds would see heat race winner Zach Sanders #69 come back from a devastating roll one week ago to put his borrowed ride in McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle. Sanders would work his way around one time leader Cory Wray #69N who would fade to place third and other heat race winner Dennis Elliott #29 who would end the feature second. Dylan Hoover #99X, in his first appearance at I-35 Speedway would end the night fourth with Darren Shaw #11 fifth. Money was added to the Hard Charger as there were co-winners with Darren Shaw and Clay Hale #22H both collecting $40 for their efforts. The extra cash was donated by Carl Flower and Judy Staley Photography.

 

 

 

 

#69 “ZachAttack” Zach Sanders, USRA Modified Feature Winner

I-35 Speedway would like to thank all those that donated to Kids Night, Paula Murphy for all the Kids Goodies, Bob Reber and Judy Staley Photography for the bike donations, and Linda Howell for the scooters given away. Another great night of racing action in the books as we look forward to Smokin Barbecue and Beer Bash next Friday and Saturday. Remember to dress in that western style next week as we continue theme night at I-35 Speedway where there is always more “Dirt Trackin at its Best”!!!!!!
