Inside Line Promotions – WINDOM, Minn. (May 2, 2016) – The first big sprint car event of the season in the Midwest is set for this Friday at I-80 Speedway, where the National Sprint League will make its season debut during the $10,000-to-win Dirt Classic I-80.

The marquee event, which features a unique format and will be show-up points guaranteeing every driver at least 135 points, is the National Sprint League’s only visit to Nebraska this season.

Defending series champion Danny Lasoski, Brian Brown, Ian Madsen and Terry McCarl are among the many elite drivers who are expected to compete at the high-banked oval in Greenwood, Neb. There’s also word that a premier driver from the East will be making the tow to contend for the victory.

In addition to the $10,000 top prize, the winner of the event will be given a Golden Ticket, which locks the driver into the $20,000-to-win, $1,000-to-start Dirt Classic main event on Sept. 24 at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa.

The Dirt Classic I-80 format is as follows:

The night will begin with each driver getting two qualifying laps. The fastest qualifier receives 100 points with a two-point drop per position.

Heat races will be lined straight up with the winner capturing 100 points and a five-point drop for each subsequent position.

A second set of heat races will invert the drivers based on time trial results with the heat race winner garnering 200 points and a five-point per position reduction.

The top 16 in overall points are locked into the main event – and are lined straight up – with the remaining cars sent to a B Main.
