Race for a Cause Legends

(Cedar Rapids, IA) Hawkeye Downs Speedway will host some of the best Legend Car Drivers from across the country this Friday night to raise awareness and funding for COPS-Concern of Police Survivors. The enhanced purse event pays $1000 to win and is also a Regional Qualifier for INEX Legend Cars.

The event was started in honor of officer and fellow racer, Danny Martinez, who was killed in 2007. In remembrance of all the officers killed in the line of duty, each driver will carry the name of a fallen police officer from their home state.

C.O.P.S. is instrumental in offering support of all types, to the survivors of the men and women killed in the line of duty while serving their communities. All proceeds of the event are contributed directly to C.O.P.S.,  which is a nonprofit organization.

This event is part of the weekly  Hy-Vee Racing Series at Hawkeye Downs Speedway, which is celebrating its 90th season of racing. The program also  featuring Barron Motor Supply Hobby Stocks, Mountain Dew Sportsmen, Miller Time Hornets, and Dublin City Pub INEX Legends on the paved quarter-mile along with Carpetland USA Late Models presented by Performance Concepts on the half-mile.

Pits open at 4:30, Grandstand at 6:00 and Racing is at 7:30pm.
