WINSTON, MO (August 23, 2014) – Taking the track for great racing action the ever growing E-Mod class was first to try and tame the fast three-eighths mile of dirt.  Second generation driver Chris Dishong would use an outside front row starting position to propel his #41 racecar to an early lead.  Dishong would lead every lap on his way to his first ever feature win at I-35 Speedway.  Heat race winner John Brown #36j and Kit Bailey #77 would search high and low for a way around the very fast Dishong, only to find themselves battling each other side by side for second place.  Brown would finish second holding point leader Bailey to third.  Heat race winner LeRoy Cameron #6a would wrestle his racecar to a solid fourth place finish.  Young up and comer Austin Bouzek #75 continues to impress race fans with consistent top five finishes by notching yet another fifth place run.

USRA Hobby Stocks would see a repeat winner as #47x of Conner Masoner would lead every lap to claim the night’s top spot.  Masoner was able to hold off the hard charge of Mich Ross #34, who would finish a close second.  Heat race winner and pole sitter Tobin Bartlett #28 would race strong for the lead early and slip to third in the closing laps.  Greg Gilbert #23g was the hard charger of the feature coming from the back to the front placing fourth, as heat race winner Tyler Clark #7t would round out the night’s top five.

In a rubbing racing hard fought battle the Grand Nationals would see Don Marrs #9 standing tall in victory lane.  Marrs would pick up win number three this season at I-35 Speedway, as Buz Kaster #54 would race his way to finish second.  Mike Taylor Jr #11t was the third place finisher, with Houston Johnson #97 fourth.  Heat race winner Austin Johnson #98 would end the night fifth.

Back to the track this week the always exciting Midwest Lightning Sprints would not disappoint.  Bobby Layne #01 would battle nephew Tony Layne #71 early and often throughout the feature as experience would prevail with the #01 in McCarthy Auto-Group Winner’s Circle.  Tony Layne would place second as Richard Hench #1, in his first appearance at I-35 Speedway, coming through the pack placing third.  Luke McGee #13 would race side by side with A.J. Tice #81 to the checkers.  When the checkers were shown McGee was fourth leaving Tice to fifth.  Heat race winners were Bobby Layne #01 and Tom Brown #b20.

In and action packed feature the USRA B-Mods would see Ronnie Miller #76 take the lead early and appear to have the car to beat until mechanical issues would bring his night to an end early.  With heat race winner Miller having issues Jim Cameron #96c would inherit the lead and claim the victory.  Current point leader Chad Clancy #21c would battle his way past almost all challengers to place second.  Heat race winner Dustin Miller #52m would have a stellar night challenging for the lead early and take the checkers in third.  Randy Ainsworth #57 would come from the back of the pack to finish fourth, holding the fast #17x of Clint Baker to fifth.  Other heat race winner was Dakota Foster #5.

In one of the most exciting features of the night the USRA Stock Cars continues to be the class watch.  Jason Estes #86e would lead early only to see the #77 of Dean Wray use the high line to perfection on his way to the front.  Wray continued to lead until the white flag lap when the Mopar power plant would let go, allowing Estes to pick up his first feature win this 2014 racing season while driving for Jake Cameron.  Current point leader Thomas Roberts #65x would drive his Boller Motorsports hot rod through the pack to finish second.  Trent Jeanes #77t was always in contention for the win as he notches another solid third place finish.  Darrel Whitt continues to wheel his #4 racecar with class and style as he would place fourth.  Jon Boller Jr. #14x would round out the evenings top five in an impressive stock car feature.  Heat race winners were Darrel Whitt #4 and Jason Estes #86e.

High Flying, Fire Breathing, Alcohol Drinking USRA Modifieds would end the night in epic fashion with two and three wide racing action throughout the field.  Point leader Zach Sanders #69 continues his impressive season logging win number six as he would lead every lap for the victory.  Dennis Elliott #29 was the big mover of the race coming through the pack to finish second.  Elliott and Steven Glenn #26s would really put on a show racing side by side lap after lap to the checkers with Glenn having to settle for third.  Bud Wilson #75 and Richard Layne would also battle side by side to the checkers with Wilson fourth and the #0 of Layne fifth.  Heat race winners were Shane Lawson #17$ and Richard Layne #0.

It was great to see Darren Shaw back at the race track and in the pace truck for the Modified feature event as he is recovering from a serious neck injury.  I-35 Speedway would like to thank all of our great drivers and loyal fans for another outstanding night of dirt track racing.  We have to comment on the good sports that participated in the “Pedal Tractor Clash” during Intermission activities.  Great racing action pursued between Allen Staley, Thomas Roberts, and Richard Biggs as they truly battled to the checkered flag.  Congratulations to race announcer Allen Staley as he would pick up the victory by putting his leg powered Allis Chalmers WD 45 in pedal tractor victory lane.

We would like to invite everyone back next week for Tompkins Industries Night at the Races as all of our regular classes will be in action along with Show-Me Vintage Racers.  See you Saturday Night for more “Dirt Trackin at its Best”.

See You There!!!
