Lucas Oil MLRA late models will battle on the banked quarter-mile oval

DAVENPORT, Ia. (May 3, 2016) – The Davenport Speedway will roar into action this Friday, May 6th, when the Lucas Oil MLRA super late models return to the quarter-mile oval.

The Lucas Oil MLRA series is based in Wheatland, Missouri. The Midwest Late model Racing Association series will compete in seven states in 2015: Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, and Oklahoma. The defending series champion is Terry Phillips of Springifeld, Missouri.

Last year’s Short Track Challenge event was rained out. When the super late models visited Davenport in 2014, a talented field of forty-five late models were on hand. Chris Simpson won an exciting main event, beating out Terry Phillips and Brian Birkhofer.

Three of the Davenport Speedway’s weekly classes will also be in action.  The Eriksen IMCA Modifieds, the Koehler Electric Street Stocks, and the Hawkeye Auto IMCA SportMods, will compete for weekly points. Also on that evening, the American Iron Racing Series make their first ever appearance at the Davenport Speedway.

Grandstand tickets for the race will be $20 for adults, $18 seniors & students. Pit passes are $30.

The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates will open at 4:30pm, grandstand at 5:00pm, with hotlaps at 6:15pm, and racing at 6:45pm.
