WINSTON, MO (August 8, 2015) – Changing things up a bit with a different order of events the USRA Stock Cars were the first onto to the track to try and tame the three-eighths mile of dirt at I-35 Speedway.  Heat race winner Jason Estes #997 would charge to the early lead only to develop mechanical problems taking him from contention.  Thomas Roberts #65x would inherit the lead and appear to be the top car on this feature event.  Roberts would hold off the hard challenge of Dean Wray #77 to capture a trip to the McCarthy Auto Group Winner’s Circle.  Wray would finish a close second as Jeff Dixon #88 racing his way to third.  Other heat race winner Billie Hoover #21h was among the top contenders only to fade late and place fourth with Jon Boller Jr #20x fifth.

Next onto the very fast racing surface the E-Modifieds would see the youth movement alive and well at I-35 Speedway.  For the second time in this 2015 racing season young thirteen year old Austin Bouzek #14 would win both his heat race and the feature event.  Bouzek would use a pole starting spot to hold off other heat race winner and point leader John Brown #36j, who would place second.  Matt Dorssom #36h, driving a barrowed car, would make the best of his situation and finish third.  Young up and comer Jacob Blair #81 continues his chase for rookie of the year notching another solid fourth place run.  Rounding out the feature’s top five would see Daniel Harris #319 come from back to front on his way to a solid top five finish.  We would like to thank Finder’s Keeper’s out of Excelsior Springs Missouri for adding $50 to the winner’s purse in this class.

Back in attendance this week the Midwest Lightning Sprints would see Mike Trent #49 race his way to victory lane.  Heat race winner Paden Moreland #19 would again impress with a consistent and solid second place run.  Filling the seat for the #5 car Mark K Billings would race to a third place finish with Tyler Miller #25m, who continues to improve, fourth.  Rookie driver Tony Martinez #20 would end the night in fifth.  In heat race action Ken Billings #85 and Tom Brown #B20 would be involved in horrendous roll over crash in turn three that would send Brown airborne into the catch fence.  Safety equipment would do its job as both drivers were able to walk away unscathed, but taking them out of contention for the feature.

Grand Nationals were in fine form as Houston Johnson #97 would use heat race win momentum to launch him out front in the feature and on to victory.  Houston would be challenged every lap by older brother Austin Johnson #98 who would place second.  Other heat race winner Buz Kaster #54 was in the hunt for the lead the entire feature only to slip one time late and would finish third.  Donnie Brown #26 would duel with Jeff Dixon #75d to the checkers with Brown fourth and Dixon fifth.

Houston Johnson #97 Grand National Winner

USRA B-Modifieds would see a caution plagued feature event with point leader Tim Eaton #211 taking the early lead.  Eaton would slip high off track in turn number four opening the door for Dakota Foster #5 to charge past Eaton and claim the $1000 paycheck.  Foster would hold off the always fast Chad Clancy #21c, who would finish a very close second.  Jim Cameron #96c and Danan Knott #18k would switch positions several times during the race with Cameron claiming third and Knott fourth.  Big mover of the race was Doug Keller #77 finishing fifth and also cashing in on the $100 bonus put up by Finder’s Keeper’s from Excelsior Springs Missouri.  Heat race winners included Dakota Foster, Chad Clancy, and Danan Knott.

Hobby Stocks would see heat race winner Mich Ross #34 continue his dominate streak as he would make it four victories in a row at I-35 Speedway.  Carson Masoner #13x would race his way to second place with John Chipp #47c third.  Jim Masoner Jr #99 would hold off Darren McCray #13 to finish fourth with McCray fifth.

Next onto the smooth track were the always entertaining USRA Modifieds with great side by side racing throughout the field.  Heat race winner Sam Florence #42 would charge to the early lead and never relinquish the top spot as he would stand tall in McCarthy Auto Group Victory Lane.  Dennis Elliott #29 would search the track both high and low for a way around the fast Florence, but only come close and settle for second.  Nick Shenberger #22 continues to improve and notched a solid third place finish.  Ryan Schaffer #r21 would again find his way to the top finishing fourth.  Steven Glenn #26s, after the smoke had settled, was the fifth place finisher.  Other heat race winner was Mark Hoover #8.

In their make-up feature from July 25, 2015 the USRA Stock Cars would roar into life closing out the night’s great racing action. Heat race winner Dean Wray #77 would use a pole position starting position to launch his hotrod to the front and on to victory leading every lap.  Jon Boller Jr #20x would try to run down the fast Wray only to place second.  Billie Hoover #21h would find the high line to his liking and race his way to place third.  Thomas Roberts #65x  would hold off Jeff Dixon #88 as the two would race to the line with Roberts fourth and Dixon fifth.  Other heat race winner was Jason Estes #997.
