West Burlington, IA (Saturday, July 8, 2017) – Another Saturday night meant another weekly racing action being held at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. Casebine Credit Union and 101.7 The Bull helped to bring the action, with two drivers earning their first wins of the season at the track. While four other drivers claimed multiple wins of the season.

Brandon Tharp and Randy LaMar led the field to the drop of the green flag in the 15 lap Casebine Credit Union IMCA SportMod feature, which was the first feature to take to the track on the night. LaMar took advantage of his starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Tharp and Jacob Whittington. Just after lap 1 was scored complete the first caution of the race appeared, as Scott Williams spun out Austen Becerra, who started 10th and was up to 4th, in turn 3 and collected Kyle Hill to bring out the yellow. On the restart Dan Keltner, who started 8th, went from fifth to grab the top spot, with Tharp and Whittington following. Another lap scored complete produced another caution, as Whittington got sideways in turn 2 and collected LaMar to bring out the yellow. Keltner moved back out front on the restart, with John Oliver Jr., who started 7th, and Sean Wyett, who started 9th, close behind. While Keltner set the pace out front, Oliver Jr. and Wyett swapped the runner up spot over the next 4 laps. Debris in turn 2 on lap 7 would slow the action for the third time. Once again Keltner jumped back out front on the restart, with Wyett and Oliver Jr. following. Two laps later, lap 9, Ryan Miller spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow, which also brought the race to the time limit. This would set up a one attempt of a green-white-checkered finish. On the restart Keltner jumped back out front, with Wyett and Oliver Jr. close behind. Just after lap 10 was scored complete Tom Lathrop. who was running 4th, spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. This would bring an end to the race, with Keltner scoring his second win of the season at the track. Wyett was 2nd, Oliver Jr. was 3rd, Tharp was 4th, with Whittington recovering from involvement in the lap 2 caution to finish in 5th.

Up next was the 15 lap Deery Brothers IMRA Midget feature, with Tyson Hart and Chase McDermand drawing the front row. But just as the green flag was waved the caution light came on, as Derek Goble spun in turn 1 to bring out the yellow. On the original restart McDermond jumped out front to lead lap 1 over Adam Taylor and Hart. Taylor and Hart would swap the runner up spot over the next 5 laps, as McDermand continued to lead. Just as McDermand started to pull away from the battle behind him, the second caution of the race appeared on lap 12. Goble would slow to a stop down the front stretch to bring out the yellow. On the restart McDermand moved back out front, with Hart and Dillon Morley close behind. Despite a few challenges from Hart over the final laps, McDermand was able to hold on to pick up his second win of the season at 34 Raceway. Hart was 2nd, Morley was 3rd, Taylor was 4th, with Jacob Sollenberger coming home in 5th.

Travis Porter and Colton Fisher led the field to green in the WT Gabeline & Sons Trucking 305 Sprint feature, with Porter grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Fisher and Dave Getchell. Porter then held the top spot until lap 4, when Donnie Steward, who started 10th, used the top of the track to grab the lead away. Just as Steward started to pull away from the field, the red flag came out to bring the slow the action for the first and only time. Nick Guernsey got upside down in turn 3 and Porter spun to bring out the red. Guernsey would climb from his car okay. On the restart Steward moved back out front, with Getchell and Daniel Bergquist close behind. While Steward set a fast pace out front, Jarrod Schneiderman, who started 9th, was working his way towards the front. On lap 14 Schneiderman was able to take over the runner up spot. But without another caution there was no catching Steward, as he went on to win his first feature of the season at the track. Schneiderman was 2nd, Getchell was 3rd, Ben Wagoner started 8th and finished 4th, with Bergquist rounding out the top 5.

Up next was the 15 lap Pepsi IMCA Stock Car feature, with Scott Jordan and Derek Schwandt leading the field to green. But it was third place starter Chad Krogmeier who grabbed the lead on lap 1 over Jordan and Jason Cook. While Krogmeier led the field, Cook and Matt Gavin, who started 6th, battled for the runner up spot, with Gavin taking control of the spot on lap 5. Gavin then set his sights on Krogmeier for the lead, as Tom Bowling Jr., who started 8th, and John Oliver Jr., who started 9th, work themselves into the battle for third. Coming off turn 4 to complete lap 11 Gavin was able to slip under Krogmeier to take over the top spot, leaving Krogmeier to battle Bowlong Jr. and Oliver Jr. for second. With the battle for second going two and three wide, Gavin would go on to claim his first win of the season at 34 Raceway. Bowling Jr. edged out Krogmeier for 2nd, Oliver Jr. was 4th, with Jake Wenig finishing in 5th.

Troy Rentfro and Chadwick Giberson made up the front row for the 15 lap Victory Lane Suspensions IMCA Modified feature, with Giberson jumping out front to lead lap 1 over Rentfro and Rich Smith. Smith would slip under Giberson to take over the top spot on lap 2. While Smith started to pull away from the rest of the field, Dennis LaVeine, who started 8th, and Brandon Rothzen, who started 11th, were working their way towards the front. On lap 6 LaVeine took over second, while it took Rothzen until lap 10 to move into third. These two then tried to chase down Smith for the lead. But without a caution there was no catching Smith, who went on to win his second feature of the season at the track. LaVeine settled for 2nd, Rothzen settled for 3rd, Dean McGee was 4th, with Dugan Thye coming home in 5th.

The final feature to take to the track on the night was the 12 lap Sonny’s Market 4-Cylinders, with Wayne Chamblee and Lisa Benningfield leading the field to green. Benningfield would take advantage of her starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Chamblee and David Prim. The lead for Benningfield then lasted until lap 5, when Kimberly Abbott, who started 8th, slipped by to take over the top spot. Two laps later, lap 7, debris down the front stretch slowed the action. On the restart Chamblee lost a right front tire in turn 2 to bring the yellow light back on. The following restart saw Abbott jump back out front, with Brandon Lambert, who started 7th, and Larry Miller, who started 6th, close behind. Abbott then pulled away over the final laps to score her fourth win of the season at the track. Lambert was 2nd, Miller was 3rd, Prim was 4th, with Jerrod Nichols rounding out the top 5.
