USOMA Open Wheel Nationals invade I-35 Speedway

WINSTON, MO (October 10, 2014) – Night one of the One Off Graphics and McCarthy Auto-Group USOMA Nationals would see qualifying races as well as three feature events.

Midwest Lightning Sprints would have two qualifying events as Bobby Layne #01 would win the first race the evening as Ryan Kent #30 would see the checkers first in the second event.  Great racing action ensued throughout the heat races and qualifiers setting the table for Saturday Night’s feature event.  The Midwest Lightning Sprints were strong in numbers as twenty-six competitors would tackle the three-eighths mile of dirt at I-35 Speedway.

In their first appearance ever at I-35 Speedway the Outlaw Bat-Wing Mini-Mod’s would take to the fast track and impress all in attendance with great side by side racing action throughout the pack.  Heat race winner Buzz Pool #6 would use a front row starting position in the feature and lead every lap on his way to claiming the inaugural victory.  Pool would hold off the hard charges of Mike Lawson #36 and #36k of Jayden Lawson as well as holding off the other heat race winner of #5k driven by Tyler Kaeter.  The Bat-Wing Mini-Mod’s will be back in action Saturday Night for more great racing action in their heat’s and feature racing.

Back for their second ever race at I-35 Speedway the Mod Lites would see the familiar face of Dillon Raffurty #46 as a repeat winner earning the night’s top spot.  Close racing action ensued behind the winner with Jimmy May #5j and David Raffurty #64 swapping positions entertaining the crowd with every lap.  The table is set for Saturday night for more heat races qualifiers and features.

Completing the night’s racing action would see the Non-Wing Sprint Cars literally fly around I-35 Speedway.  When the checkers were shown Casey Shuman would pilot the Jack Hockett prepared #77 to McCarthy Auto-Group Winner’s Circle.  Shuman would charge to the front in the early laps and lead the entire race holding off the fast charge of #1c Kent Christian who would place second.  Third place would see Wyatt Burks #11w charge through the pack passing all challengers holding Chad Shields #11 to fourth. Big Mover of the feature was P.J. Grimes #00 who would round out the night’s top five.
