WINSTON, MO (September 13, 2014) – Growing in numbers and high in quality this week the E-Mod class was first to try to tame the very fast three-eighths mile of dirt at I-35 Speedway.  Battling two and three wide throughout the entire pack would see the familiar face of John Brown #36j wheel his way to McCarthy Auto-Group winners circle.  Brown would battle past Keith Simmons #222 and one-time leader Kit Bailey #77 to claim the win with Simmons a very close second.  Point leader Bailey would slip once in turn two and fade to third in the later stages.  Heat race winner Chris Dishong #41 would place fourth with LeRoy Cameron #6a fifth.  Other heat race winner was Scotty Grenier #25.

Next up to the track was the USRA Hobby Stocks with Mich Ross #34 making it three victories in a row at I-35 claiming the night’s top spot.  Corey Myers #15 would challenge Ross early and often to finish the feature in second place.  Greg Gilbert #23g was the hard charger by coming from the back of the pack to the front and passing one time leader John Willard #1/2 to place third, leaving Willard fourth.  Bradley Sheetz #27x would round out the night’s top five.  Heat race winners were John Willard #1/2 and Lonnie Myers #14.

In an action packed feature the USRA B-Mods would not disappoint.  Doug Keller #77 from a pole starting position would take the early lead and never look back on his way to picking up feature win number two this 2014 racing season.  Great racing action ensued behind Keller as Jim Cameron #96c would use his familiar high side move to pass Shadren Turner #17t placing second.  Turner would impress those in attendance battling side by side with Cameron to finish the night in third.  Randy Ainsworth #57 would continue his impressive consistency by placing a solid fourth.  Point leader Chad Clancy #21c would struggle in his heat race and have to race his way through the B-Feature.  Starting shotgun on the field for the feature Clancy would race his way through most of the pack to place fifth.  Heat race winners included Doug Keller #77, Justin Custer #3c, Shadren Turner #17t, and Dustin Crist #222.  B-Feature winner was Ed Noll #15.

Grand Nationals would see great racing action with Heat race winner Austin Johnson #98 emerging victorious.  Buz Kaster #54 would make a race of it by challenging Johnson late only to place second.  One-time leader Houston Johnson #97 would place third with Don Marrs #9 fourth.

For the second week in a row the Midwest Lightning Sprints would witness Mark K. Billings #51 in victory lane.  Billings would gain the early lead and hold off all challengers on his way to the checkers.  Heat race winner and big mover of the race Bobby Layne would pilot his #01 hotrod to second.  Back at the track this week Tom Brown #b20 would make his presence felt as he would finish third.  Other heat race winner Tony Layne #71 would be in contention the entire race only to settle for fourth as Luke McGee #13, after an early race mishap, would recover to finish fifth.

All that can be said about the USRA Stock Car class at I-35 Speedway is “WOW, it doesn’t get any better than this”.  Amazing racing action would witness three and four wide contention for the lead almost every lap, never truly knowing who the victor would be until the checkers fell.  Dean Wray #77 would out duel the best of the best to rocket his Mopar powered race car to McCarthy Auto-Group Winners Circle.  Wray would pass early race leader Thomas Roberts #65x by using the extreme high side as Roberts would race his way to second.  John O’Neal Jr #33 and Sean Foster #55 were also battling for the lead, at times four wide, with O’Neal third and Foster fourth.  Word cannot describe how close side by side racing this was for these drivers to never make contact lap after lap.  Big mover of the feature was Eddie Ingram #54, coming from the back to the pack, to challenge the leaders late and finish fifth.  We could go on forever describing just how good the quality was in this feature as these drivers proved their true professionalism by impressing all in attendance. Heat race winners were Dean Wray #77 and Brett Heeter #05. WOW!!

In just the second time behind the wheel of a USRA Modified Jesse Sobbing #99 would make the field take note as he would go from fourth starting spot to running first in the feature in just one lap.  Sobbing would lead every lap on his way to claim the night’s feature win.  Bud Wilson #75 would use a late race restart to his advantage by hugging the inside and placing second.  Shayne Bailey #5d continues to improve each week moving through the pack to finish third.  Chad Smith #26, all the way up from Springdale Arkansas, would prove he is a member of the elite by racing his way to finish fourth on his first ever visit to I-35 Speedway.  Hard Charger of the race was Mark Hoover #8, who would recover from an early race spin, and race through the pack for a solid fifth place finish.  Heat race winners were Jesse Sobbing #99 and Bud Wilson #75.

I-35 Speedway would like to thank DX racing for their donation of two remote controlled racecars that were given away during Intermission activities.  Kids enjoy those racecars.  Thanks to all those who donated to the Nickel Drop as all the kids in attendance twelve years old and younger would take home pockets full of nickels.  I-35 Speedway would like to thank all of our drivers for such a GREAT night of racing action and we would like to thank all the fans for braving the elements and filling the grandstands.  See everyone next week on Winner’s Circle Awards Night at the Races for more “Dirt Trackin at its Best”.

See You There!!!
