| July 6, 2025

Columbus Junction, Iowa: Kemper Trucking and Excavation sponsored the 4th of July Special races at the CJ Speedway on Friday night with a season high car count in attendance on a beautiful night for Stock car Racing.

The $1,300 dollar first place prize money drew an excellent field of very talented Stewart & Sons Fuel IMCA Modifieds to the 4/10th mile dirt track on the Louisa County Fairgrounds. The 20 lap feature was dominated by past National IMCA Modified Champion Jeff “Bone” Larson from Freeport, Illinois. Larson took advantage of a great start from the outside of the front row and put his #B1 on the top side of the smooth track and sailed on to the feature win over some of the best Modified drivers in the Midwest. Logan Veloz of Colona, Illinois stayed within striking distance of Larson but was not able to seriously contend for the win. Veloz crossed under the checkers ahead of Josh Foster and Cayden Carter.

The Mincer Ford IMCA Stock Cars put on their usual exciting race in their main event. Dustin Griffiths emerged from a pack of contenders as the main event neared halfway and went on to score the win. Griffiths had been battling with eventual second place finisher Trenton Whitt and Adam Bell. The three very very talented IMCA Stock Car drivers came under the checkers with only a few car lengths separating them. Johnny Spaw passed his son Bronson on the last lap to take 4th.
The Aupp Automotive IMCA Sportmods division continues to be dominated by Oskaloosa’s Dylan VanWyk. The 117 of VanWyk scored his sixth consecutive win which will increase the Bounty to $550 next Friday night. VanWyk took advantage of the redraw on Friday night which put him on the outside front row for the main event. Van Wyk sailed on to the feature win despite lapped traffic allowing second place finisher Brayton Carter to close late in the main event. Trey Rock celebrated his 27th Birthday with a fine third place finish.

The CJ Auto Parts/NAPA Stores IMCA Hobby Stocks saw Senior to be Brayden Wood score his first CJ Speedway on Friday night. In his first full season of racing Wood now has two feature wins to his credit. The youngster raced to the win ahead of Kale Hemsley and Austin Stalder.

Clarks Muffler and Service sponsored the return of the 4 Cylinders to the CJ Speedway for the 4th of July Special. Past CJ Track Champion from nearby Wapello, Darin Smith showed that he has not lost a beat in scoring the feature win. Smith raced to the win ahead of Alex Hayes and Barry Taft.
