Feger harvests night one win at Corn State Nationals
DAVENPORT, Ia. (September 12, 2025) – Jason Feger dominated night one of the Corn State Nationals at the Davenport Speedway. The Bloomington, Illinois racer set quick time in MARS qualifying with a lap of 13.702 seconds. Jason then won his heat race and led all thirty laps of the A-main.
Garrett Alberson gave chase early in the race with Ryan Unzicker the pursuer late in the event. Both would get close to Feger, but neither could mount a pass for the lead. The current MARS point leader, Feger collected a check for $5,000 for his efforts.
Unzicker would finish second with Alberson third. Shannon Babb raced from 14th starting spot to finish fourth. Frank Heckenast Jr. finished fifth. In addition to Feger, Caden McWhorter and Unzicker won heat races. Nick Avelink won the B-main.
Zach Zeitner of Bellvue, Nebraska came away with the win in the The Outhouse / Storage to Go IMCA Late Models. Zeitner took the lead after a lap 17 restart and would lead the rest of the way to the checkers. Andy Nezworski finished in the second position with Jesse Bodin third. Dustin Smith and Logan Veloz rounded out the top five.
Rob Henry was the winner in the Koehler Electric Street Stocks. Henry jumped out to the early lead and never looked back. Cary Brown finished second ahead of Mitch Morris in third. Kyler Hickenbottom was credited with fourth and Jesse Owen fifth.
Saturday brings night two of the Corn State Nationals to Davenport Speedway. The cars and stars of the MARS series will be racing for $10,000-to-win. Also racing will be IMCA Modifieds and IMCA SportMods. There will also be an invitational powder puff race.
