Griffiths, VanDerwal Score Wins As Racing Returns To Eldon Raceway

Eldon, Iowa (May 10, 2025) – The big ½ mile dirt track located on the Wapello County Fairgrounds in Eldon hosted racing action on a beautiful night this past Saturday.

Five Classes of cars were in action with area drivers dominating the racing program.

In the opening night feature it was Ottumwa driver Seth Meinders scoring the win in the Sport Compacts ahead of young Katelyn Watts.

The Stock Cars then took center stage and it was Leremy Jackson scoring his first ever feature win in the Stock Car Class within the state of Iowa.

It was Jackson’s second feature win but his first came in Quincy, Illinois two years ago. Jackson held off Dustin Griffiths for the win. Veteran racer, Curtis VanDerwal topped the Sportmod class by racing to the checkers ahead of Colton Livezey.

Dustin Griffiths doing double duty Saturday night topped the Hobby Stock feature scoring the win ahead of Keaton Gordon.

The nightcap was the running of the Vintage Cars. Bobby VanBuskirk drove the family owned Studebaker to the win ahead of Steve Byers in a throwback Firebird.

Racing will return to the Eldon Raceway on Friday, June 13th as a full night of racing will be held during the Wapello County Fair.
