Opening day is set for April 7th at 24 Raceway
by: Ron Lueck - Track Spokesman
MOBERLY, MO. (Feb. 23, 2007) - Opening day is set for April 7th with season
ticket prices staying the same at $10 for adults and $5 for kids, ages 6 to 12.
Five year olds and under are free. This year's pit pass also stays put at last
year's price at a cost of $22 per night. A laminated and coded 2007 season pass
to the bleachers for all 29 racings dates is available for a $200 fee. And, for
something a bit different this season, there are two practice weekends on the
schedule, with the condition that the track is in a race-ready shape and as
always, weather-permitting. On the weekend of March 24 & 25, and again on the
following weekend of March 31 / April 1, during daytime hours only, the track
will be available for practice time from Noon to dusk for qualified drivers of
all classes with a $10 admission per person entering the pit area. A signed
release will be mandatory. This practice includes late models, sprints and dwarf
cars. General bleacher viewing is free, but the concession stand will only be
open in the pit area.
There are more race nights on this year's schedule, due to some additional shows
being brought in. To start with, the always popular Winged Outlaw Warriors 360
cubic inch Sprints are scheduled for 4 nights this season starting with an early
April 28th show. Four nights of the Classic Dwarf Cars & ModLites will compete
in the Dwarf Car Association's scheduling each month at Moberly. Two very
different Late Model shows are on the agenda, too. The first is a part of the
Fastrak Midwest Regional Racing Series, a touring series, using the "crate
engine" concept to help hold cost down for the car owners in this class. More
info on this organization can be found on their site of
www.fastrakracing.com  for the
Midwest division of Late Models. June starts out with a rare Friday night show
and it will be motorcycle action at 24 Raceway!
Some 18- plus classes of two-wheel action and sponsored in part by Mid America Harley Davidson, will be taking place under the guidance of the National Flat Track Racing Association (NFTRA). The track will be preped with straw bales stratigically placed by the Association's directions, along with a track surface with less moisture than a car event. More viewing of their schedule is on their site of www.nftra.com . Probably the biggest night of the summer schedule will belong to the Tuesday night before the 4th of July! On this July 3rd, there are just two classes set to race at this time, but they are both way fast!
Those unlimited Late Models from the Midwest Late Model Racing Association
are set to appear with their O'Reilly's sponsored Touring Series, along with the
4th annual running of the Pro-modifieds in the Firecracker Forty, a 40-lap event
sponsored by L&J Development for the big engine A-mods. And to throw in
something completely different, a mixed-Marshall Arts night of caged fighting is
on the agenda for Friday, August 24th. Ticket pricing for this non-race event
will be offered as ring-side seating or general bleacher seating. Watch for more
info during the season on all of these events, as well as the post season racing
in September, including the 5th annual B-modified Championship Shootout with its
custom race format, sponsored by MHC Kenworth, and the annual Labor Day
Speedbowl.
So, come on out for the afternoon practice sessions, and return for the Saturday
evening Opening Nite for the 2007 racing season, beginning with hot laps at 6pm
and racing at 7pm. Come, watch and cheer on your favorites competing for points
towards the season championships in the various classes from April to August.
See ya Saturday nite at the races with "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" at 24
Raceway in Moberly.
