24 RACEWAY RAINS (OR SNOWS) OUT AND POSTPHONES OPENING NIGHT
TO APRIL 21 - REVAMPS MADE TO 2nd HALF OF APRIL SCHEDULE
by: Ron Lueck - Track Spokesman
MOBERLY, MO. (April 14) - With the first two weekend being either too cold or
too wet, a reworking of the remaining April part of the Moberly racetrack
schedule is to be as follows: The Classic Dwarf Cars and Mod-Lites have
rescheduled and will now be at 24 Raceway for opening night set for next
Saturday, April 21, in addition to the A-modified, B-modified, Sportsman, Hobby
Stock and 4 Cylinder Hornet classes. All of them will be trying to get the first
week's worth of their points for the 2007 season. At least some of the drivers
got in a practice session last weekend following the car shine & show, hosted by
the Mid-Mo Cruisers Car Club.
The Hornet Special, with a guarantied 20 lap feature, is now pushed back a week
to April 28. And the last weekend of April will also see those exciting W.O.W.
360 cubic inch Sprint Cars come to Moberly for the first of four scheduled races
for 2007. These guys have the speed record at the Moberly track with a 122 mph
mark. They are way fast (and loud too!) Take note, A-Modifieds will not be
racing that evening of April 28 at 24 Raceway. Instead, any A-Mod driver,
registered and paid at the track and not traveling to one of the races taking
place at some of the neighboring tracks, will be granted a free admission to the
Grandstand with a catch. At the evening's intermission, those drivers present
will be encouraged to be available for an autograph session on the front
walkway. Names and car #'s will be announced for a bit of recognition, "up close
and personal" for this class. If their A-mod racecar is towed to the track for
display and photo option purposes, all the better. Fans can bring their cameras
for a closer pic on these A-mods and, again get items signed or autographs at
the base of the stands on Saturday April 28 before the features get under way.
The track info phone is 660-269-9300, or visit the website of
www.24racewayinmoberly.com for more info. Gates will open at 4pm with hot laps
getting under way at 6pm. Racing in the "heats" follow at 7pm. Opening night
tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 6 to 12. Under 6 years of age are
free. A family pass is offered for $25 and allows 2 adults and 3 kids into the
grandstands. Pit passes go for $22. Five regular classes of stock car racing
will take place each Saturday nite thru Oct 6, with the various specials listed
on the schedule, and with "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" at 24 Raceway in
Moberly.
