MOBERLY, MO (May 12) - It was a great night of racing at Moberly's 24 Raceway on Saturday, May12! Kelly Smith in B-Mods and Rob Chase in Hornets captured checkered flags for the 3rd time. The Sportsman class provided an exciting 25-lap competition for the
winner to celebrate a whopping $400 prize. The Sportsman class also has a new sponsor for the year. Thanks to MFA Oil / Break Time!

The 50/50 Drawing amounted to $123 won by Jerry Powers of Plainville, IL. Congratulations!

Lucky Alexis Widaman of Moberly won the bicycle donated by Gary and Diane Wilson of Wilson's Hot Rod Shop, Holliday, MO.

RACING ACTION:

HORNETS:

The 24-car field and 12-lap feature was interrupted by a first lap, turn one caution and later by another crunch on Turn 4. The racing continued with a few battles throughout, and at the end, through lapped traffic. Rob Chase (#3 Clark), after winning his heat and starting on the pole, captured his 3rd win in a row followed in 2nd by Chad Hickam
(#9H Hallsville) giving Chase a close run at various times. John Brown (#01 Huntsville) finished 3rd as he snuck by Brooke Hassler (#21 Columbia) who finished 4th. Fun race!

MOBERLY MOTORS B-MODS:

Close fast action provided entertainment when several good moves were made by many drivers in this 15-car feature. The top 3 cars were nose to tail when Kelly Smith (#82 Kirksville) made a fearless charge from 3rd to1st to enjoy his 3rd win in a row. Gary Wilson (#11 Holliday) and Kevin Embree (#61 Paris) worked hard to finish an impressive 2nd and 3rd.
Also tightening up the field coming in 4th was hard-charger Bob Woodrow (#3 Hannibal). Exciting!

HOBBY STOCK:

Thirteen cars began the race with Tim Dawson (#28 Callao) leading the way the entire race into victory lane with Alan Hultz (#51 Madison) chasing close but just falling short, settling for second. Tom Elsen (#11 Clarence) maintained 3rd position followed in 4th by Kevin Renzelmann (#41 Huntsville). Charging from the last row because of a problem in the heat race was Mike Wolfe (#11W Madison) who earned the 5th spot. This was Dawson's first victory in his first time back to 24 Raceway. He said he had a "lucky draw" and that there is "no place like home" and was glad to be back. He thanked his sponsors and asked that fans should tell sponsors that they heard their names at the racetrack. Sponsors are very important. Good racing!

A-MODS:

There were 20 cars that started this highly-charged feature. Hooked-up were several cars but Dave Holder (#4G Clarence) dominated the race but with some competition on his tail following a few restarts from cautions. Thrilling action was between 2nd place Ben Ballard (#49 Sturgeon) and 3rd place Mike Hoover (#71 Mexico) as they scrambled for position. Brandon Lennox (#22c New London) thundered into 4th place with some bold moves. Making a very impressive charge was 5th place finisher Mark VanWinkle(#24V Hannibal) who started in the last row. Lots of action from great contenders!

MFA OIL / BREAK TIME SPORTSMAN SPECIAL:

What a race! All were gunning for that top prize and after a few cautions and some high-flying action, Pete Agee (#14 Huntsville) survived for his 2nd win in a row and pocketed the top $400 which he said "always helps". He thanked his wife, guys who help, and his sponsors. Snagging the 2nd spot was Ryan Petersheim (#6 Sturgeon) who gave a huge run for the money. Claiming 3rd position was a big competitor Chad Walter (#23 Clarence). After leading many laps was Larry Krog (#6K Clarence) who dropped back into 4th but ran hard. Quite the competition and great driving!

Next week Saturday May 19 in Moberly, Missouri, following the five regular classes of both A & B-Modifieds, Sportsman, Hobby Stocks and 4 cly. Hornets, will be the annual Hobby Stock Mechanics race. Come watch as the guys who turn the wrenches, get to turn the steering wheel! "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" will take place again at 7pm at 24 Raceway, east of Moberly Missouri on U.S. Highway 24. Watch for a new feature, the first edition of "Track Talk" to be available at the stands, featuring stories and driver profiles from 24 Raceway. Adult admission to the grandstand is only $10, kids are $5 for ages 6 to 12, and the grandstands will open at 4 p.m. Rates for the popular Family Pass are $25, and that includes admission to the grandstands for 2 adults and 3 children, ages 6 to 12. Kids under 6 are always free. Hot laps at 6:15 following a short drivers' meeting.
