TWO FEEL-GOOD STORIES FROM A HOT SATURDAY AUG. 11: AGEE PROMISES SPORTSMAN TROPHY TO 5-YR OLD GREAT NEPHEW IF HE WINS (THEN GOES OUT & DOES IT); AND HORNET DRIVER K. CHASE BECOMES FIRST-EVER FEMALE WINNER AT 24 RACEWAY IN ANY FEATURE EVENT!

WANT MORE? IN MODIFIEDS, ROBERTS GETS WIN #2 FOR THE SEASON, WHILE SMITH CONTINUES HIS WINNING WAYS.

Report by Pam Hassler & repeated promo by Ron Lueck - 24 Raceway, Moberly, MO.

MOBERLY, MO (Aug 13) - It was August! It was hot! Moberly's 24 Raceway's dirt oval on Saturday, August 11, 2007 dealt up a little dust but as usual the five classes of race cars provided excellent entertainment. There were many good battles in the competitions and also a couple of "feel good" moments. Kristi Chase (#33 Hornet of Clark), a fan favorite, finally won her first Hornet feature becoming the track's first female champ. She was given a tribute of fireworks for her victory. Another nice moment was for 5yr. old Jason Rasmussen from Macon when he was presented the trophy from his Great-uncle Pete Agee (#14 Sportsman of Huntsville) who had just championed the win in that class. The special 25-lap Hobby Stock race, winning $400, lead to an interesting conclusion (read results). Two

RACE RESULTS:

MFA OIL/BREAK TIME SPORTSMAN:
Pete Agee (#14 Huntsville) took charge of the feature by running the low line right past the checkered flag. Charlie Rindom (#42 Moberly) gave him a run for the money but fell short of the win and accepted the 2nd place. Working the high line and making great attempts was Larry Krog (#6K Clarence) who ran into the 3rd spot. A close finish for 4th and 5th was between Tim Eravi (#3 Moberly) followed by Derrick Agee (#14 Huntsville). P. Agee thanked his sponsors and those in the pits who helped him. It was a "good race for me" and "I can't do this alone". After leaving victory lane he drove down to the gate in turn 1 where he met his extemely happy great-nephew (5 yr. old Jason Rasmussen of Macon) to present him the trophy.

A-MODS:
Scotty Roberts (#25 Columbia) had a super run that started out on the low groove but after moving up on the track a little, he gained momentum and extended his lead straight into victory lane for his second win of the season. Following Roberts was a tremendous competition for the 2nd through 5th positions. Kelly Smith (#41 Kirksville) powered the line awhile competing for first but dropped back and led the pack to earn the runner-up spot. He was challenged by Kenny Mudd (#07 Winfield), Kevin Blackburn (#26K Fulton), and David Holder (now in #71 Clarence) as they finished 3rd, 4th, and 5th respectively after racing often 3-wide. Roberts said he was tired and that it was "too hot to be doing this stuff" but gladly accepted the win! He thanked his sponsors. He saw that 'Kelly (Smith) had the line' and 'knew where he had to be'.

HORNETS:
The 18-car feature was led all the way by Kristi Chase (#33 Clark) who was a very excited champion earning her first victory. Second place went to the current point leader and hard-charger Chad Hickam (#9H Hallsville), and Hickam was giving it all he had to try to overtake Chase. Galen Hassler (#25 Hallsville - who earned his first win on Friday at Callaway Raceway) remained glued to his 3rd place just ahead of challenger Lowell Smith (#03 Bucklin) who made several attempts to pass. Rounding out the top 5 was Brooke Hassler (#21 Columbia). Chase said, "I can't believe I just won!" She thanked her husband Rob (#3 Hornet) and all her sponsors along with her mom, dad, kids, and fans. This was a deserved win after the big roll-over for both of the couple's cars just two weeks ago.

MOBERLY MOTORS B-MODS:
This feature had an unusually short field this week but still displayed fast cars. Kelly Smith (#82 Kirksville) dominated the race and grabbed the victor's bucks. Scoring the 2nd place was Gary Wilson (#11 Holliday). Several car lengths separated each car throughout the pack. Jacob Grotewiel (#96 Clifton Hill) powered into 3rd, followed by Steve Robinson (#10 Huntsville) in 4th. Charles VanBoening (#6V Paris) finished the top 5. Smith said the 'track was slick' and it was 'hard to pass on the bottom'. He thanked his sponsors and God.

HOBBY STOCKS:
This special feature with 15 cars battling for the $400 winner's share of the prize money resulted in some interesting situations.
An earlier 6-lap Dash with the top 3 finishers from the 2 heat races decided the order for the first 6 positions of the feature. Kevin Renzelmann (#41 Huntsville) was certainly a hot-shoe who led for nearly half the race. Unfortunately, by spinning out a lapped car, he had to go to the rear and after the restart he went to the pits thinking he had a flat, but didn't and rejoined the race a couple laps down. This allowed Clinton "Pinkie" Dale (#7 Moberly) to take over the lead and work his way into victory lane. He was challenged by Tom Creed (#17 Moberly) who accepted the 2nd prize. Also competing hard was Alan Hultz (#51 Madison) who scored the 3rd spot. Chase Breid (#12B Madison) gridded the 4th position and claiming 5th was Nathan Stevenson (#57 Huntsville). HOWEVER, these results were not to hold! After a considerable amount of time in the 'tech' area, it was determined that the #7 (first place) and the #12B (fourth place) were disqualified due to engine compression ratios in excess of the allowable 10.5 to 1 as stated in the class rules. Therefore, the winner's trophy and prize money went to Tom Creed (#17) with his second win in as many weeks, followed by Alan Hultz (#51) and Nathan Stevenson (#57). This moved up Mark Forrester (#10 Columbia) into the 4th place. It was still a good race!
