ONE WEEKEND'S WORTH OF PRACTICE IN THE BOOKS - ONE TO GO - THEN THE 2008 SEASON STARTS APRIL 12th AT 24 RACEWAY.
Ron Lueck - Track Spokesman

MOBERLY, MO (Mar 31) - Last weekend's days were just right for late March with the temperatures and weather for the first weekend's practice session at 24 Raceway. Over 100 folks attended the Moberly track pit area on Saturday with quite a selection of cars to watch, trying to get more speed and handling out of their cars at the high-banked track. Curtis Boyer, #72 of New Haven, got the "fastest time" award in his Winged Sprint during his practice. Although the wind on Saturday could have been a bit less than the gusts that showed, the returning drivers like Vance Wilson and Jeff Creed stated they were finding out what they needed to know on their racecars' setup. Sunday, the 30th, saw a dozen cars come out for the 2nd day to do the same - testing & tuning. With another weekend being made available for more testing and tuning, we can only hope for similar weather - after all, it is early April in Missouri. Last year all four scheduled practice days were either rained out or colded out, so this 08 season is already seeing an improved start.

As scheduled, April 5th and 6th will be the second weekend of the track being made available for practice time from Noon to dusk for qualified drivers of all classes with a $10 admission per person entering the pit area. Track Force Racing Supplies of Kirksville will be present to provide fuel and parts if needed. Practice will be both Saturday and Sunday at 24 Raceway and the weather is supposed to be good with daytime temps in the 60's. A signed release from all who enter the pit area will be mandatory. This practice is for all classes of modifieds, hobbys, sportsman, hornets, late models, sprints and any classic dwarf cars wishing to attend and get in that much needed seat time. Bleachers have some new boards, the viewing is free, but the concessions are only scheduled to be open in the pit area. This could change with crowd size. The 24 Raceway tech staff is set to be on hand for answers to questions that arise from the new engine compression rules for both the B-mods and Hobby Stock classes (now set at 9.0 to 1 and a 360 cubic inch size limit for both). The tech team for the facility will be present to go over any items of concern on those classes, as well as the other 3 regular season classes of A-mod, Sportsman & 4 Cylinder Hornets. As in last weekend, racecars may be brought to the track for a tech inspection without actually having to pay to come in. The track's phone is 660-269-9300. Updated rules concerning all five classes are available on the web site of www.24racewayinmoberly.com under the forum section. Track memberships are coming in and can be paid anytime this weekend with the forms being completed at the pit booth. A few concrete pads remain available for this 2008 season, but are on the 1st come - 1st rented availabilty.

Opening day of April 12th will be here soon, so with season ticket prices still staying the same at $10 for adults and $5 for kids, ages 6 to 12, a night at 24 Raceway will continue to be a good value. Five year olds and under are always admitted free. This year's pit pass will also stay the same as last year's price at $25 per night. A laminated and coded 2008 season pass to the bleachers for all 28 racing dates is available. One more weekend of practice and then it's "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" at the high banks of 24 Raceway on the 12th.
