24 RACEWAY SEASON OPENER POSTPHONED ONCE MORE, THIS TIME DUE TO THE RAIN AND LACK OF SUN ON SATURDAY.
by: Ron Lueck - 24 Raceway, Moberly, MO

MOBERLY, MO (April 19) - The continued moisture in the air will not let the dirt tract surface get the needed drying time to set up for tonight's racing program, this 19th day of April so the 2008 season opening will now be next weekend, April 26. The 4 cylinder Hornet class will get things underway at 24 Raceway with a 20 lap feature. Along with that class will be the rest of the regular classes racing at Moberly, consisting of A-modifieds, the Moberly Motors B-modifieds, the MFA Oil/Breaktime Sportsman class, and the Hobby Stocks

An attempt at rescheduling the Late Models of the ULMA series will be made for later in the season, after their own regular series concludes. So watch for that info to be added later to 24 Raceway's schedule. A tribute to Pamela Hassler, our writer of the racing reviews after each Saturday night that went out to the various news outlets, will take place before the start of next week's events. Pamela passed away suddenly this week while in Indiana. Two of her sons, Brooke & Galen, compete at Moberly and have both made the move up to the open wheel B-modified class. Her articles have been written these last couple of seasons from a woman's point of view on racing (and with a mother's concern) and have been well received. She will be missed by her family and friends, both in racing circles and the teaching circles.

The 2008 season membership registration forms can still be mailed in to the P.O. Box 553 address in Moberly for helping out in speeding up the entry into the pit next weekend, now April 26th. Updated rules concerning all five classes are available on the web site of www.24racewayinmoberly.com under each class heading, and on the forum section of the site.

UPCOMING EVENTS (revised):
April 26 - Opening Night plus the Hornet Special (20 Lap event)
May 3 - Car and Racecar Show & Shine; 10 AM (swap meet - craft show & rummage sale)
May 10 - MFA Oil / Breaktime Sportsman Special (25 Lap event)

We're still saying to "Dress warm, as we will still be in April" when we get this season under way. Adult ticket prices for Opening Night, along with the Hornet Special, are still a good value at $10, with children, ages 6 to 12, getting in for $5. Kids under 6 years old are admitted free of charge. This year's pit pass will also stay the same as last year's price at $25 per night. We're having a time getting started but the 26 racing dates now kick off this next Saturday night of April 26th with "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" at the high banks of 24 Raceway, Moberly.
