by: Ron Lueck - 24 Raceway, Moberly, MO

MOBERLY, MO (August 26) - In the two weeks of 24 Raceway's summer pit stop, there's been a Missouri State Fair and the Beijing Summer Olympics. Now it's time for a return to the racing program once again in Moberly with the Annual SpeedBowl 2008, featuring a cool A-modified prize of $2008 to the winner of the 35 lap event this coming Saturday August 30th. This will also mark the end of the quest towards the 2008 season Championships for the other four classes with double points being awarded to the Moberly Motors B-modfieds, MFA Oil / Break Time Sportsman class, Hobby Stock and 4 Cylinder Hornet classes. The A-modifieds ended their own points racing season on August 9th, with Clarence's David Holder getting that award, mainly by taking ten wins this year at the high-banked half mile track. Season points can be viewed on www.speednetdirect.com/results by clicking on "points" and then picking "24 Raceway". Current leaders are: Gary Wilson in the B-mods, Clinton Dale for the Sportsman class, Tom Creed for the Hobby Stocks, and Rob Chase in the 4 cylinder Hornet division.

Admission for Saturday's race will be $15, with kids aged 6 to 12 getting in for $5. A family pass for 2 adults and up to 3 kids (ages 6 to 12) will run $35. Grandstands will be open at 4 pm, as will the pit gates. A pit pass will cost $30 for this 35 lap race. A driver's meeting will take place at 6 pm, followed by the hot laps for all classes. Racing starts at 7 pm. Rules for the A-modified class will be per 24 Raceway's (available on line at www.24racewayinmoberly.com ) or per USRA rules. As stated earlier, the A-mods will be racing for a $2008 payout, with 2nd paying $1000, and 3rd getting $600. The A-mod car and driver registration fee will be $125, including the driver's pit pass.
