Sprints added to 34 Raceway weekly program in 2007
By Dana Royer/34 Raceway

MIDDLETOWN, IA (Dec. 29, 2006) Following a meeting with area sprint car racers on December 20, track owners, Jeff and Amy Laue were undecided whether to bring back sprint car racing to 34 Raceway and add to their weekly program. After recently purchasing the area track, the Laue's have been inundated with fans asking for the return of sprint cars. According to Amy Laue a decision has been made. 305 Sprint cars will compete at 34 Raceway on Saturday nights along with IMCA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks.

The sprint cars were dropped from 34 Raceway's weekly program following the 2003 season due to low car count. Early this week, the Lauešs were called to a special meeting held by several area racers to encourage them to run the 305 sprints. Following that meeting, the 34 Raceway Board of Directors met to discuss the situation and it was a majority vote to run the 305 sprints in the 2007 season.

According to the Laues, twelve area 305šs have committed with a possibility of about 20 more. The Mid America 305 Sprint car group out of Knoxville, Ottumwa, Oskaloosa and the Des Moines area have also been invited to join in on the great Saturday night action.

Although a pay off for the sprints has not yet been decided or published, Amy Laue suggests that they will be racing for approximately a $3000 total purse. Well known to many area sprint car fans and racers, a local entrepreneur, Marc Zaiser of Zaiser Fabrication will sponsor the sprint car class in the 2007 season.

They will officially be known as
THE ZAISER FABRICATION 34 RACEWAY SPRINT CARS.

With this announcement all classes are set for the 2007 season which gets underway on April 7 with the Sprint Invaders Special, followed by a IMCA Deery Brothers Special on April 14. If you have questions or comments please feel free to contact Jeff or Amy Laue at 319-754-1897.
