Brian Hetrick dies following motorcycle accident

WEST BURLINGTON, IA (August 19) - We are extremely saddened and stunned to learn of the death of Brian Hetrick, Stronghurst, Illinois. Brian, 29, was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident Sunday evening and was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City with head injuries. Brian passed away at 5:24 p.m. in Iowa City Monday evening with his family by his side.

Brian, in his familiar #35 sprint car, was the current point leader in the Sebastian Sandblasting 305 Sprint class at 34 Raceway heading into this Saturday's season championship races. Most recently he was the Case Construction Shake Up Dash winner during the Sprint Invaders race Saturday Night at 34 Raceway as well as a heat race winner. He had won five 305 Sprint features this year at 34. He was also a regular competitor for the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders.

Words cannot express the loss we feel and can only imagine the hurt his family is feeling. The 34 Raceway 305 sprint class has made the decision to race this Saturday but they will not be racing for points. They have joined together and will declare their fellow competitor and friend the 2008 Sebastian Sandblasting 305 Sprint Car Track Champion at this Saturday's race.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Julie, his parents Joyce and Jim, his brother Kevin, and all his friends. Saturday nights just won't be the same. He will be truely and deeply missed. God bless you Brian, a true champion.
