Tyler Cale makes last lap pass for modified win;
Ditsworth, Mueller, Thomann, Van Buskirk all get wins at 34 Raceway

By Dana Royer/34 Raceway

BURLINGTON, IA (June 12, 2011) - After a couples weeks off due to rain it was back to the track at 34 Raceway with plenty of action and plenty of cars.  Two drivers got their first wins for the year including Tanner Thomann, West Burlington (hobby stocks) and Scott Van Buskirk, Hedrick (sport mods). Three drivers got repeat wins for the year including Tyler Cale, Donnellson (modifieds), Jason Ditsworth, Gladstone, Il. (sprints), and Jeff Meuller, New London (stock cars).

Twenty-five Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds took on 34 Raceway and Tyler Cale, Donnellson, would take the checkered flag for the second time this year. Brandon Rothzen took the lead from Mike Weikert on lap nine of the twenty lap feature and would lead the field for the next ten laps. Rothzen would appear to be adding daylight between him and Tyler Cale but with one lap to go, Rothzen would push to the top in turn two and Cale would slip past for the lead and the win. Rothzen had to settle for second and Dustin Crear would finish third.

The Mikes Auto Parts IMCA Stock Cars took to the track for the second feature race of the night with a nice field of eighteen cars setting the field. Wapellos Brett Timmerman took the early lead from  his front row start and led the field for the first nine laps holding off several challenges by Jeff Mueller.  On lap ten Mueller was finally able to get past Timmerman  for the lead and would go on to take the checkered flag in the flag to flag race that took just six minutes.  Ryan Cook would finish second and Chris Webb followed in third.

Jayson Ditsworth took advantage of some tough luck for Daniel Bergquist to get his third W.T. Gabeline and Sons Trucking 305 Sprint feature win topping the twenty car field. In just his second year behind the wheel of a sprint car, Bergquist would take the lead from Dustin Whiting on lap three of the twenty lap feature and would pull away from the field. With one lap to go, disaster struck for the young gun when he was forced to go to the pits following a caution with a flat tire. This gave Ditsworth, who had moved from the rear of the field to the second position, the advantage as he went on to hold off  Matt Krieger for the win.

In their second appearance of the year at 34 Raceway this  year, Scott Van Buskirk, Hedrick, would take the checkered flag in the fifteen lap feature. Van Buskirk led all but two of the fifteen laps, when Rodger Dresden was able to get by him on lap ten. But Buskirk would gain the lead back two laps later and went on to hold off Jeff Mueller for the win.

Tanner Thomann, West Burlington, led from start to finish in yet another flag to flag feature for the night. Thomann took the lead on the first lap  of the fifteen car field from his second row and had to work hard to keep his position ahead of  Jake Wenig, Ray Raker and Dean Kratzer who were racing side by side and bumper to bumper. Thomann would start to pull away slightly  but as he ran into lap traffic the gap would close. Wenig would pull up to his bumper and on the final lap was along side the leader as the passed the stands. Thomann would take the win by a 1/2 car length as they passed the finish line side by side.
