Work Continues at I-35 Speedway to Make it the Best in Dirt Track Racing!

| January 19, 2016

WINSTON, MO (Jan. 19, 2015) – Over 70 people with veteran drivers and newcomers all in attendance and anticipating the upcoming racing season at I-35 Speedway would enter Cameron Community Center for I-35 Speedway’s Drivers Meeting. Meeting was called to order by Rick Staley with Robbie Skipper of Heartland Missions and Motorsports saying the invocation. Veterans, Firemen, and Law officers were all recognized and applauded for their contributions and the meeting was then turned to Race Director Carl Flower. Items discussed were general rules that have been adjusted and that head and neck restraints will be mandatory in 2016 with a grace period to comply until July 1st 2016.

After the 2010 racing season, J. D. Green, Mike Johnson, Carl Flower, Bobby Lopez, Sam Stoecklin, and some other representatives of local tracks met to try and get rules uniform so drivers could compete at multiple tracks if they so desired.  This past November, I-35 Speedway announced new classes, the Pure Stocks would be replacing the Hobby Stocks, the Chargers would be replacing the Grand Nationals, and the E-Mod rules were tightened to ensure competitiveness in the class.  Since those rules were published other local tracks published their rules which created some differences in the rules and in particular the Pure Stock class.

After the drivers meeting which was held on January 16, 2016, I-35 Speedway is pleased to announce, any Pure Stock/Hobby Stock car that does come from another track will be allowed to run their .450 lift cam rule. This is and will be the only rule exception for them.  They must follow all other I-35 SPEEDWAY engine rules and class rules. We feel the bigger valves the I-35 cars have will equal out the larger cam lift of those cars. If it is determined that the cars have a performance advantage with the larger cam lift, we will make an adjustment to the rules by adding weight to them until they become equally competitive.

It is not the intent of I-35 Speedway management to use rules to exclude competitors from other tracks.  Our goal is to ensure we have equal competition for all competitors in all classes.

All cars no matter where they come from must meet our tire rules. They will be given one week to meet our tire rule if they do not comply on their first visit to I-35 speedway. Please visit our website at www.i35speedway.net for complete rules.

Remember that Heartland Missions and Motorsports Kids Power Wheels participants will need a release form signed by parent or guardian. Please see Carley Bowling or Rick Staley if competing.

Mike Johnson then addressed the crowd on all the improvements at the Speedway. There will now be a lawn chair area on a first come first serve basis next to the bleacher entrance, lights and more pit area have been added, Smoking Trackside Barbecue and Beer Bash & car show added for a special weekend of fun, improvements to Trackside Bar and Grill Suites, Track caution lights permanently repaired, and the list goes on and on and on and on!!!!

See you soon at I-35 Speedway, “Dirt Trackin at its Best”!!!!
