Hughes, Gordon, Simmons, Livezey, Meinders Score Popular Wapello County Fair Race Wins

ELDON, IA (June 12, 2025) – Hughes, Gordon, Simmons, Livezey, Meinders Score Popular Wapello County Fair Race Wins

Eldon, Iowa: The Wapello County Fair hosted a special Thursday night edition of racing on the Super 1/2 mile dirt with 6 classes of race cars in action.

Mike Hughes scored a popular win driving the number 85 Stock car. Hughes has been subbing this year for Jason McDaniel, who has been sidelined with back issues. Hughes took the win by holding off a late race charge by Dustin Griffiths. Brayton Carter drove his cousins Stock Car to a third place finish.

Colton Livezey spent a very late night on Wednesday night changing motors in his #29 Sportmod and the long night paid off as he was able to score the win on Thursday night at the Wapello County fair. Livezey took the checkers ahead of Brandon Dale and Curtis VanDerwal.

The Hobby Stock win was recorded by Keaton Gordon racing to the win over very popular and hometown racer Craig Brown. Brown held off a late race charge by Jeremy Dooley who rounded out the top three.

The Modified feature win went to Douds driver, Dakota Simmons. Simmons was the class of the field scoring the win ahead of Danny Brau and Scott Brau.
Seth Meinders took the win in the Compact class besting a strong field. Brandon Pickney and Katelyn Watts ran second and third.

Scott VanBuskirk drove his 58 Studebaker to the Vintage Class win.

Racing will return to the Eldon Raceway on Saturday, July 26th and the final race of the 25 season will be the annual Michael Petersen Memorial on Saturday, September 6th.
