Steve Jackson and Jim Tull are 2006 Tradition winners

CORNING, IA. (Sept. 15-16, 2006) - The KMA Radio 960 and Stalker Chevrolet 2006 Tradition was run on Friday and Saturday, September 15th and 16th at the Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa. Steve Jackson took his first Tradition title in the street class while Jim Tull recorded his first hobby stock title.

Les Elliott started up front and jumped to the early lead in the hobby stock feature and paced the field until lap 10 when Jim Tull charged into the lead. Tull then led until the halfway point when the 5-minute break and pit stop occurred. The random number of 7 was drawn to invert the field for the final segment and Dale Towne took command of the race. His lead was short-lived as Brad Bergren took his turn at the front for a few laps. The man on the move again was Tull as he regained the lead with only 6 laps to go but he then lost it to a hard-charging Matt Hudson. A restart with on a few laps remaining cost Hudson as a cut tire ended his run at the front and left Tull to fend off Bergren to take the title with Towne, Ryan Vicker and Elliott rounding out the top five.

Steve Jackson claimed the early lead in the street stock feature as he lead the entire first segment while holding off Keith Knop for the lead. The random invert again was 7, which put Greg Miller at the point. Miller led the next 9 laps and he, too, found himself holding off Knop for the lead. A restart with 6 laps remaining really scrambled the field as Miller and Knop wrestled for the lead for most of a lap and finally resulted in the front of the field slipping and sliding through turns 3 and 4 while battling for the lead. This was the break that Jackson and Steve Churchill needed as they emerged in first and second. That pair swapped the lead for a few laps until Jackson was finally able to shake free and go on to score the win with Churchill, Tim Bengard, Tony Hardisty and Jeff Orr rounding out the top five.
