Anderson, James, Swanson and Hudson take victories on MLRA night at ACS

CORNING, IA (June 14) - Nine days after being in the highest water level in Corning, Iowa since 1947, the Adams County Speedway hosted the O’Reilly MLRA late models and complimented the show with the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action of the Budweiser modifieds, Northland Oil pro streets and the NAPA hobby stocks. Jeff James, Jeremy Swanson and Matt Hudson took the weekly wins in ACS competition while John Anderson dominated the MLRA portion of the program. Full results and story from the MLRA show will be available at www.mlraracing.com.

John Anderson jumped to the lead in the MLRA late model feature and led the entire race but it was not without challenges. Terry Phillips made the first charge for the leader but spun in turn 4 while battling for the top spot. This left Phillip’s teammate Jeremy Payne to take over chasing Anderson. Payne could keep close, but nothing was stopping Anderson from the victory. Anderson and Payne were followed to the finish by an impressive group of ACS regulars Jason O’Brien, Chris Spieker and Trenton Jackson.

Jesse Dennis shot to the early lead in the Budweiser modified feature with Jeff James in hot pursuit. James actually took the lead several times before being credited with the lead as cautions were the norm in the feature event. Once James got control and the green stayed out, no one could muster up enough speed to challenge for the lead. James went on to take his first win of the season. Dan Mueller overtook Jeremy Tibben for second with a few laps to go and Dennis and Kirby Stiens rounded out the top five.

Joe Zadina was the early leader in the Northland Oil pro street feature, but the man on the move was Jeremy Swanson. Swanson picked off a car a lap and sometimes two by using a line higher than the rest of the competition and he swept around the high side of Zadina on lap 7 and sped off to his second win of the season. David Schafroth, Zadina, Mike Garner and A.J. Miller rounded out the top five.

Donald Sexton paced the early laps of the NAPA hobby stock feature with Matt Hudson picking his way through the field much like Swanson did in the Northland Oil pro street feature. Hudson got to the lead by lap 8 and led the rest of the way. Hudson picked up the win after starting 11th. Matt Williamson started 14th and moved to 2nd. Trent Davison went from 12th to 3rd, Glenn Orr jumped from 20th to 4th and Rick Ritchie finished fifth.
