Glendenning, Mueller, Zadina, Yearington and Miller take ACS Checkers

CORNING, IA (August 16) - It was another wild night of action for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at the Adams County Speedway. With three night of racing left, all four classes have a different point leader than what they started the night with. Paul Glendenning, Dan Mueller, Joe Zadina and Kevin Yearington took home the feature wins and Greg Miller topped the Northland Oil pro street king of the hill.

Tim Cooney paced the first few laps of the Whelen late model feature until Justin Zeitner took command for the next three laps. After lap five, Trent Jackson, Paul Glendenning and Chris Spieker moved to the top three spots with Jackson and Glendenning spending the rest of the race swapping the lead as they chased each other through open track as well as some heavy lapped traffic. Glendenning was able to prevail for the victory, which put him back into the point lead by three over Spieker. Glendenning was followed to the finish by Jackson, Spieker, Karl Ritterbusch and Leon Zeitner.

Brian Foote shot to the early lead in the Budweiser modified feature and held the spot for the first three laps when Kirby Stiens took command. By the mid-point of the race Russell Stewart took the top spot but his lead only lasted a short time as Dan Mueller went by to lead the last several laps to score his second win of the season, as well as take back the point lead. Mueller was followed by Kirby Stiens, Stewart, Jeremy Tibben and Jared Stiens.

The Northland Oil pro street feature saw Joe Zadina on the pole and he led all the laps to take the win, but like any other ACS class, there were plenty of competitors wanting to take the top spot away. Greg Miller was the last challenger to get a shot, but could not get close enough for a look at the lead. Zadina’s second win of the season was followed by Miller, Steve Churchill, Brad Derry and Dave Schafroth. Miller took over the point lead again with his second place finish, and then topped the king of the hill by beating Ron Ballinger, Schafroth and Craig Garner.

David Weeda took the early lead in the NAPA hobby stock feature and paced the field over the first half of the race. Kevin Yearington then took over with Jesse Sobbing coming to second. Yearington was able to keep Sobbing at bay the rest of the way for his first win of the season. Yearington was chased to the line by Sobbing, Weeda, Jeremy Auten and Donald Sexton. Point leader Matt Hudson lost his point lead to Trent Davison when he rolled his car on the first lap of the feature.

Join us next week for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series with more great action of the Whelen late models, Budweiser modifieds, Northland Oil pro streets, and NAPA hobby stocks.
