Spieker, Wyman, Miller, Yearington and Mueller top ACS action

CORNING, IA (August 23) - Only two nights remain for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at the Adams County Speedway for 2008. Point races continue to be tight as Chris Spieker, J.C. Wyman, Greg Miller and Kevin Yearington took the feature wins with Dan Mueller taking the Budweiser modified king of the hill.

Troy McKee and Jeremy Hodapp took turns with the lead over the first laps of the Whelen late model feature. Todd McKee then charged to the front and held the spot through the mid-point of the race when Chris Spieker took over. Once in the lead, Spieker had Todd McKee and Trent Jackson close behind but neither could get past Spieker. Spieker was followed to the checkered by Todd McKee, Jackson, Leon Zeitner and Paul Glendenning. Spieker now retakes the point lead from Glendenning by 5 points.

The Budweiser modified feature began with Kirby Stiens taking the top spot. Jeff James charged up from his 14th starting spot to take the lead by lap five. James was using the bottom lane of the track to maintain his lead, but J.C. Wyman went to the high line and the pair spent the last several laps of the event swapping the lead. Wyman would go on to record his second win on the season ahead of James, Jared Stiens, Jeremy Tibben and Dan Mueller. Mueller holds a three point lead over Tibben and he also won the king of the hill race over Tibben in the final.

Dwain Pelzer jumped to the early lead in the Northland Oil pro street feature but that lead only lasted a few laps as A. J. Miller took over. Miller then gave up the top spot to Steve Churchill with Miller’s dad, Greg, coming up to second. The elder Miller then erased the lead Churchill had and moved by and into the lead. Churchill kept the pressure on the rest of the way, but Miller recorded his third win of the season and stretched his point lead to seven over Churchill. Miller and Churchill were followed to the finish by A.J. Miller, Ron Ballinger and Joe Zadina.

Robert Hague took the lead in the NAPA hobby stock feature and as the pack shuffled spots behind him, he ran comfortably in the lead. With only five laps to go, Kevin Yearington had won the shuffle with the pack running for second and he got to Hague to take over the top spot. Yearington was followed at the line by Jesse Sobbing, Trent Davison, Rick Ritchie and Matt Williamson. Davison maintained his point lead, but had to run the last lap with flames coming off his engine.
