Glendenning, Stiens, Zadina, Weston and Zeitner take home ACS wins

CORNING, IA (August 30) - Only one night remains for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series for 2008 at the Adams County Speedway. If September 6th would rain out, then the 13th will be used as a final night make up race. Paul Glendenning, Kirby Stiens, Joe Zadina and Jerod Weston took the feature events while Leon Zeitner topped the late model king of the hill action.

Tim Cooney grabbed the early lead in the Whelen late model feature but that would only last a few laps before Paul Glendenning charged through the field to take the lead. Chris Spieker picked his way through the field to take second by mid-race, but Glendenning had opened up a lead that was not to be challenged as he scored his third win of the season. Glendenning and Spieker were chased to the checkered by Leon Zeitner, Trent Jackson and Al Zeitner. Spieker now holds a three point lead over Glendenning in the championship standings. Leon Zeitner capped the night by taking wins over Jeremy Hodapp, Glendenning and Spieker to take king of the hill honors.

Jeff Wiggins shot to the early lead in the Budweiser modified feature and built a comfortable lead. At mid-race, Wiggins spun while still holding the lead. Brian Foote took over on the restart but didn’t lead a lap as Kirby Stiens moved to the point and brought Jeremy Tibben with him. Tibben was able to stick his nose to the lead with three laps to go, but Stiens answered the challenge and pulled back to the lead. Stiens would record his first win of the season ahead of Tibben, Jeff James, Ryan Peckham and Chris Hogan. Tibben now leads Dan Mueller by seven points heading into the final night.

The Northland Oil pro street feature saw Jerry Parker take early command. Parker would lead the first six laps until Jeff Orr took the spot away. Orr’s lead was even shorter as Joe Zadina took the lead by mid-race. Zadina then had to hold off the strong challenge of Greg Miller to secure his third win on the season. Zadina and Miller were followed by Brad Derry, Steve Churchill and Orr. Miller now holds an 11 point lead over Churchill going to the final night.

Jerod Weston did what he could to make the NAPA hobby stock feature boring by starting on the pole and leading all the laps, but nothing is ever that easy in ACS competition. Josh True gave chase the entire race and was within reach if Weston should falter, but that did not happen as Weston took his first win of the season ahead of True, Chris Vannausdle, Jeremy Auten and David Weeda. Heading into the last night, Trent Davison holds a five point lead over Jesse Sobbing with Auten only eight points back.
