Drew Armstrong Opens 2011 at Mid-America Modified Championship

ALEXANDER, AR (March 6, 2011) - After a long winter, 16 year-old, Drew Armstrong will kick off his 2011 campaign in his #01a Armstrong Auto-Sports/Larry Shaw Open Wheel Modified this weekend, March 10th-12th, in the 15th Annual Mid-America IMCA Modified Championship.

Armstrong, who was the 2010 I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) and Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas) Rookie of the Year, is eager to open his season as he pursues track championships at both facilities as well as the IMCA State, Regional, and National Championships.  Drew had hoped to take part in this past Saturday's test and tune and car show at I-30 Speedway, but Mother Nature had other ideas nixing the program.

His quest will begin this weekend with the 15th Annual Mid-America IMCA Modified Championship at Batesville Motor Speedway.  The event will consist of three straight nights of racing action at the lightning fast, 3/8 mile oval.  Each night a complete program consisting of heat races, b-mains, and a $1,500 to win/$150 to start feature will be held.  In addition, the driver, who accumulates the most points over the three night stretch will receive a $500 bonus, and all three events serve as qualifying events for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, which is held at the end of the year at the IMCA Super Nationals.  For more information on this weekend's event, please visit www.BatesvilleMotorSpeedway.net
