Sprint Invaders Thunder to Quincy Raceways Sunday!

(Bill W) September 8, 2010 – If this year's race at Quincy Raceways is anything like last year, we have a treat in store for us on Sunday. The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders return to the 3/8 semi-banked oval in Quincy, Illinois for what proves to be some great racing action. Added to the mix is a tight point race that has raged all summer long and has just three events remaining to settle it.

"Showtime" Kaley Gharst won both visits to Quincy in 2009, and the 2007 series champion leads the current points' race going in. The most dramatic of the wins last season came in July, in a feature that saw six lead changes on the racy surface. Kaley went over the berm in turn three while leading and still came back to recapture the lead late in the going.

Matt Sutton is close behind Gharst, just 21 points off the pace. "Flyin'" Ryan Jamison is only 30 points out of the lead, and Ben Wagoner, who won the Sprint Invaders last race at the CJ Speedway on September 3, has taken over fourth. Donnie Steward rounds out the top five.

Joining Gharst as previous winners at Quincy Raceways are Ricky Logan (2006) and Sutton (2007). This will mark the fifth visit in the history of the Sprint Invaders.

Events start a little earlier on Sunday! The pit gates will open at 2:00, with grandstands opening at 3:00. Hot laps are scheduled for 4:00 with racing to follow. Adult tickets are $15, with Seniors admitted at $12. Students aged 11-15 are $10, with children 10 and under FREE! Family passes are also available. IMCA Late Models, UMP Modifieds and Hobby Stocks are also on the card. For more information, visit www.QuincyRaceways.com!
