Tuesdays with TMAC – Back on the Road!

(Bill W) April 12, 2011 – Terry McCarl will be back in action this weekend with the World of Outlaws in Kentucky and Missouri.  The plan is to run the T-MAC Motorsports #24 machine at the two facilities.  The Altoona, Iowa driver was able to get some laps in last weekend at the I-80 Speedway near Greenwood, Nebraska aboard Gary Swenson’s #24A.

This will mark the last week before joining Tony VerMeer and the #55 team in their quest for a Knoxville championship.  Knoxville’s practice will be Friday, April 22 and the team plans on running the Monster Energy™ Sprint Series opener in West Burlington on Saturday, April 23.  “We’re looking at going to Paducah and Pevely this weekend with the #24,” says TMAC.  “We’ve been working on the #55, so it will be ready for the following weekend at Burlington.”

TMAC has had his share of success at the Paducah International Raceway near Paducah, Kentucky in the past.  The WoO will make their annual visit on Friday to the high-banked 3/8-mile oval.  “That’s a fun place,” says TMAC.  “I haven’t won there, but I set a couple of track records there.  It’s a fun track and the fans are always great down there.”

One of the popular stops on the WoO circuit is the I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri.  That’s scheduled for Saturday night.  “If I was a spectator, I don’t think I’d miss a race at Pevely,” says TMAC.  “Some of the best races I’ve seen or have been a part of have been at I-55.”

A heavy track greeted 45 cars in a stout field at I-80 Speedway last Friday.  TMAC would pull in early in the feature on a rough track.  “It’s tough going and driving someone else’s stuff, but Gary is a great guy and I appreciate the opportunity to drive his car,” he says.  “I don’t have my own 360, so it was nice for Gary to let us drive his.  We had fun, and I think we learned a lot.  Next time, I think we’ll be a lot faster.  We were better every time out.”

In Saturday’s finale, the dry-slick surface allowed TMAC to get into a redraw spot and come home seventh.  “I haven’t raced much this year, so it was good to get some laps in and we had a good time,” he says.  “I need to get in racing shape.  My competition at Knoxville is out racing, so we need to be out there with them.”

Sons Austin and Carson are finishing preparations for the 2011 racing season at Knoxville, but along with the #24 team, could use some sponsorship to keep going.  A unique opportunity to sponsor a team for one night or more is available.  “We have some great deals for sponsorship for all three of our cars,” says TMAC.  “It’s a nice way to get involved with a race team.  We have one-night deals, or multi-night deals too.  We’d love to help more of the businesses who help racing.”
